Israeli Community Forced to Build Walls to Protect School Buses from Hamas Rockets

Labels: » » » » » »

Officials in Kibbutz Sa'ad, near the Gaza Strip, have decided to build a cement wall that will protect student buses as they enter the community.
The initiative follows the rocket attack on an area school bus almost two months ago that claimed the life of one student.
The decision was taken last week, and construction work began Monday

"It's another precaution we're adopting, mostly because of the school buses that come and go," said kibbutz secretary Buki Bart. "The entrance to the kibbutz was identified as a vulnerable spot that can be monitored from the Strip, and after the bus incident we decided to protect the entrance using such cement walls." via challahhuakbar.blogspot.com

What distortion? NYTimes wants to accuse others of distortion regarding Obama's so called 1967borders

Obama said the 1967 borders. That was why the NYTimes reported exactly what it did. That was why everyone else reported it exactly as they did. <sarcasm>So everyone else is guilty</sarcasm>... even though they were right because they reported back Obama's word, but the NYTimes blames everyone else for doing what is right... and even some of the staff of the NYTimes actually reported the event correctly. When they make it this complicated it seems like Obama never said it... but he did... and then they make it into a strawman... oh... I get it... it is so confusing that they think they fooled us... I guess they did. story via Camera

picking on Mamet @NYT Magazine - Character Assasination of one of the greatest writers of our times because he isn't a liberal lemming

Labels: » »
Oh noes... one of the best playwrites of recent memory doesn't hate himself and has a brain. You just know the NYTimes will give him a Goldstone-ish Report
Acclaimed playwright David Mamet is featured in the New York Times Sunday magazine’s "Talk" feature (formerly the "Q&A) on the eve of the publication of "The Secret Knowledge," his dramatic intellectual break with the political left.
Early reviews suggest Mamet’s message is bracing, and the left has responded in kind with vicious cries of sellout. Perhaps that’s why Andrew Goldman’s Q&A with Mamet is testier than his previous interviews (he replaced the liberal Deborah Solomon in the magazine’s Q&A slot in March). Even the subhead was slanted and hostile: "David Mamet explains his intellectual shift to the right. The far right."
A few of Goldman’s challenging questions (in bold) and Mamet's answers (in normal type):
Years ago, you described "American Buffalo" as being about "how we excuse all sorts of great and small betrayals and ethical compromises called business." In this book, you defend enormous payouts to C.E.O.’s working for failing corporations. You seem to have changed radically.
I have. Here’s the question: Is it absurd for a company to pay hundreds of millions of dollars to a C.E.O. if the company is failing? The answer is that it may or may not be absurd, but it’s none of our goddamned business. Because as Milton Friedman said, the question is not what are the decisions but who makes the decisions. Because when the government starts deciding what’s absurd, you’re on the road to serfdom.
....
You wrote that Karl Marx "never worked a day in his life." But how is his writing "Das Kapital" fundamentally different from the way you make a living? You realize you’re not a plumber, right?
Jesus Christ. Listen, here’s the thing about an English degree -- if you sat somebody down and asked them to make a list of the writers they admire over the last hundred years, see how many of them got a degree in English.
Sometimes in the book I thought you were just trying to anger some of your liberal friends, like when you wrote the West sees the Middle East conflict as "entertainment."
No, I think that it’s true. There has always been a different standard for the Jews. We’re like "honorary Aryans," as Hitler said of the Japanese. That means that we’re human beings only when it suits the world to treat us as human beings. There’s a pretty good book on the subject -- the Torah. via mrc.org
“Forcing yourself into a new way of thinking about things is a wrenching experience. But first you have to look back and atone. You think, ‘Oh my god, what have I done? What was I thinking?’ You realize you’ve been a co-dependent with the herd. And then, when you decide to say what you’ve discovered, out loud, you take the risk that everyone you know will look on you as a fool.”
...Higher ed, [Mamet] said, was an elaborate scheme to deprive young people of their freedom of thought. He compared four years of college to a lab experiment in which a rat is trained to pull a lever for a pellet of food. A student recites some bit of received and unexamined wisdom—“Thomas Jefferson: slave owner, adulterer, pull the lever”—and is rewarded with his pellet: a grade, a degree, and ultimately a lifelong membership in a tribe of people educated to see the world in the same way.
“If we identify every interaction as having a victim and an oppressor, and we get a pellet when we find the victims, we’re training ourselves not to see cause and effect,” he said. Wasn’t there, he went on, a “much more interesting .  .  . view of the world in which not everything can be reduced to victim and oppressor?”

you know what it takes in the theatre world to have a little Chutzpah against the Liberal Lynch Mob? BRASS BALLS!

PA President Mahmoud Abbas said the Palestinian state "will be free of all Jews." again

Labels: » » » » » » » » »
At the Arab League meeting in Qatar on Saturday, PA President Mahmoud Abbas said the Palestinian state "will be free of all Jews."
Last week the US-supported Abbas denied the Jewish connection to the land of Israel and claimed absurdly that the Palestinians were 9,000 years old.
Equally incriminating, in an interview last week with Aaron Lerner from the IMRA newsgathering website, Palestinian negotiator Nabil Shaath said that now that Hamas was the co-leader of the PA with Fatah, responsibility for continuing to hold IDF St.-Sgt. Gilad Schalit hostage devolved from Hamas to the PA. And the PA would continue to hold him hostage.

Thanks again Canada

If Harper had not stood by Israel, the G8's anti-Israel resolution endorsing the Palestinian negotiating position could have formed the basis of a US-sponsored anti-Israel Security Council resolution.

Israeli News: A fake Arab problem

Labels:
Israeli media savor the new data which shows that 40% of the Arabs between 18 and 22 do not work or study.
We have many problems with Arabs, but this is not one of them. In Israeli society, working at this age is not particularly encouraged. Young Jews serve in the army, then study. Arabs need neither, so they can enjoy their free time. From mid-20s on, Arab employment is similar to the Jewish.
with all that money coming in from Europe for the Palestinian Authority one would think they could fix this.

A senior Egyptian general admits that "virginity checks" were performed on women arrested at a demonstration this spring, the first such admission after previous denials by military authorities. ...The general said the virginity checks were done so that the women wouldn't later claim they had been raped by Egyptian authorities.

France to vote against unilateral declaration of 'Palestinian state'?

France has hinted that it may vote against a unilateral declaration of a 'Palestinian state.'
An agreed upon solution between Israel and the Palestinians is the only one that will put an end to the current status quo, the French embassy said in a statement released Monday announcing the visit to the region of French Foreign Minister Alain Juppe.
That comment is significant in light of Israeli efforts to convince the Europeans that supporting Palestinian statehood at the UN in September would be counterproductive.

Wiener's Wiener: Dem. Rep's 'Hacking' Story Falls Apart?

Labels: » » » » » » » » » »
I'm not a fan of Wiener the Macho Spaz, but I believe him here...
Over the last few days New York Congressman Anthony Wiener, a Democrat, claimed that his Twitter account had been hacked when it was revealed that "someone" sent a sexually graphic picture to a young woman in Washington State from his account.
The photo, a picture of a briefs-clad man sporting an erection, was sent to a young college student named Gennette Nicole Cordova who is a student at Whatcom Community College, Bellingham, Washington. This young woman once Tweeted that Wiener was her "boyfriend." No one is sure what sort of relationship Wiener has with Cordova if any. But there seems to be some links.
Another reason why this is very suspicious. Miss Cordova is purported to be just some random person that the Wiener Twitter "hacker" targeted. What makes this seem less and less likely is that Miss Cordova has in the last two days gone to great lengths to try and erase herself from the Internet. She has systematically closed accounts and even removed her name from stories she wrote for her school newspaper. If she was just an innocent, random person in this story, why has she gone to such pains to try and erase herself like that? Seems more like guilt driving her actions, don't you think?
Google Blames Being Hacked On China

not a hacker?

For his part, Rep. Wiener claims his Twitter account was hacked. This does not ring true.
WHAT? Do you have any idea how many times my twitter account has been hacked and twitter did nothing about it? Yes... I know he is a Democrat... and I don't even really like him... but this sounds like an online sex lynch mob against a Jew. the libel doesn't stop... even against Jews who are liberal.
Why would a hacker hack Wiener's Twitter account to send only one photo to some girl in Washington State (who claimed to be his girlfriend) and then just leave without doing other things?
because it destroyed his reputation and the hacker did not want to stay around to get caught... duh!
Its far more likely that Wiener sent the photo himself. This elaborate "I was hacked" story does not ring true.

...guilty because you don't believe people's accounts get hacked?  that is a lot of faith for a network who was hacked by Iranian hackers. in fact I suspect some of the employees at twitter are part of the prank... but I have about as much evidence as this blogger has that Wiener wanted to destroy his life.

Anyway, whatever the case, many bloggers are having fun with this one. Stacy McCain has a great timeline of what has happened thus far. But this is the extent of my interest in the matter. Check out McCain's post on this one for more information. via chicagonow.com

Carter Misrepresents Longstanding U.S. Policy, U.N. Resolution 242

Labels: »

Not for the first time, former President Jimmy Carter misrepresents the contents of U.N. Resolution 242, passed in the wake of the 1967 Six Day War. In an Op-Ed last week in the International Herald Tribune, Carter recycles falsehoods from his book and deceives readers ("The unchanged path to Mideast peace," May 26, 2011):
U.N. Security Council Resolution 242 of Nov. 22, 1967, concluded the war of that year and has been widely acknowledged by all parties to be the basis for a peace agreement. Its key phrases are, “Emphasizing the inadmissibility of the acquisition of territory by war,” and “Withdrawal of Israeli armed forces from territories occupied in the recent conflict.” These included the West Bank, Gaza and East Jerusalem, plus lands belonging to Lebanon, Egypt and Syria. . . .

Significantly, Carter does not quote the "key phrase" of the resolution calling for the withdrawal of the West Bank, Gaza and East Jerusalem, because the resolution does not even mention them. Those were the President's own additions. Given that the drafters of U.N. Resolution 242 did not intend for Israel to withdraw to its pre-1967 boundaries, the resolution very deliberately refers to withdrawal from "territories," and not "the territories." Indeed, the fact that U.N. Resolution 242 does not call for withdrawal from the West Bank, Gaza and East Jerusalem was made clear in a series of correction published in 2000 by the New York Times, which owns and publishes the International Herald Tribune. The three corrections follow:
(Read full "Carter Misrepresents Longstanding U.S. Policy, U.N. Resolution 242")

even when they drop the "THE" they still distort the intent of the very clear language. Carter not only lies... he does not confront the objections to his assertion. Trust me... he was never "SORRY" he called Israel an "Apartheid". He is a most disingenuous public figure.

France 24 correspondent tortured for covering pro-democracy demonstrations

Labels: »
Media_httpfarm6static_ipgrf
When Nazeeha Saeed, the Bahrain correspondent of France 24 and Radio Monte Carlo Doualiya, was summoned to a police station in the city of Rifa’a for questioning at midday on 22 May, she expected to be back home two hours later and had no inkling of the nightmare awaiting her.
On arriving at the police station, she took a seat and waited calmly. Other women, mainly nurses, were also waiting, sitting on the floor.
An hour later, she was called. She entered an office where there was a male officer. In a quiet but unsettling voice, he told her to answer the questions that would be put to her. He then left her with a female officer, who accusing her of “lying” in her reports and told her to admit her links with the Hezbollah TV station Al-Manar and the Iranian Arabic-language TV station Al-Alam. “You must confess,” the woman kept repeating, going on to accuse her of participating in the pro-democracy demonstrations that have taking place in Bahrain since March.
An hour later, she was taken to another office. There, a woman police officer mocked and insulted her. When Nazeeha ignored her, the policewoman grabbed her by the chin, held it hard, and slapped her with the other hand. “You must tell me the truth,” she screamed, continuing to slap her and then seizing her by the hair and throwing her to the ground. Four policewomen proceeded to slap, punch and kick her repeatedly. One of the women took her shoe and forced it into her mouth. “You are worth less than this shoe," she said.
With the shoe still in her mouth, she was dragged to yet another office, where she was blindfolded and was initially made to stand. Then she was forced to kneel on a chair, facing the back of the chair, exposing her back and the soles of her feet, which were now beaten repeatedly with a piece of flexible black plastic tubing. As she cried out with pain, a police officer kept shouting “Shut up and answer my questions” without asking any questions or without giving her time to say anything.
She continued to be accused of lying and of “harming Bahrain’s image.” The blows kept on coming. The blindfold finally fell from her eyes and she noticed the male officer, the one who had spoken to her initially, coldly observing the scene.
Nazeeha was then taken to a room where there were other women, nurses, who were awaiting their turn to be interrogated.
After a while, she was taken back for another interrogation session. The nightmare resumed. Blindfolded again, she was told to bray like a donkey and to walk like an animal. A new humiliation. And she was beaten again. At one point, a woman held a plastic bottle against her mouth. “Drink, it’s urine,” the woman cried, pressing her lips against the mouth of the bottle. Nazeeha managed to knock the bottle out of the policewoman’s hand, but the policewoman picked it up and poured part of its contents over her face. Nazeeha did not know what it was, but it stung her face.
She was taken to another office and was forced to kneel on a chair again. The soles of her feet, her back, her arms and her head were again beaten with the plastic tube.
She was taken back to the room where other women were waiting and the blindfold was removed. When she recovered the use of her eyes, she saw that it was past midnight. All the women, including Nazeeha, were now allowed to go to the toilet and were brought food. They were also brought documents to sign, without being able to read them. Nazeeha signed.
The policewoman who had initially received her at the police station checked all the women with a stethoscope and told them they would be sent to prison for 45 days, pending trial.
The head of the police station nonetheless asked to see Nazeeha. He told her he was very surprised to find her there and pretended not to know she had been interrogated. She was allowed to phone her mother and was finally allowed to return home. But she has not yet recovered from the ordeal. She continues to suffer physical and psychological after-effects.
The interior ministry subsequently announced proceedings against those responsible for the mistreatment. Nazeeha gave an account of her ordeal to the military prosecutor in charge of the investigation.
She is currently in France receiving medical care and is due to return to Bahrain tomorrow.
Reporters Without Borders is appalled by the way this journalist was mistreated and urges the authorities to carry out an independent and transparent investigation that sheds all possible light on this shocking and disgraceful episode. Those responsible should be charged and tried, as should those in the chain of command who were involved.
This young woman’s case gives a glimpse of the treatment of journalists by security forces in Bahrain. The list of detained reporters, photographers and cyber-dissidents keeps on getting longer amid complete indifference on the part of the international community.
...but I'm sure the feminists will say this is "Western Man's Fault"

Attorneys from Israel and North America in a letter to UN Secretary General

Labels: » » » »
Late last week, dozens of attorneys and experts in international law appealed to United Nations Secretary General, Ban Ki-Moon to prevent the General Assembly resolution recognizing a Palestinian state within the 1967 borders, on the grounds that it violates of international law and contravenes previous United Nations resolutions. Notable among the signatures were those of Dr. Alan Baker, former legal advisor to the Foreign Ministry and former Ambassador to Canada; Dr. Meir Rosenne, also former legal advisor to the Foreign Ministry, former Ambassador to the United States and one of the principal framers of the Camp David accords; Professor Talia Einhorn, Professor Eliav Shochetman, and Legal Forum Attorney Yossi Fuchs who initiated the letter.

His Excellency Ban Ki-Moon,
Secretary-General of the United Nations,
1st Avenue & 44th St., New York, NY 10017
May 25, 201
Excellency,

Re: The proposed General Assembly resolution to recognize a Palestinian
State "within 1967 borders"- an illegal action

We, the undersigned, attorneys from across the world who are involved in
general matters of international law, as well as being closely concerned
with the Israeli- Palestinian dispute, appeal to you to use your influence
and authority among the member states of the UN, with a view to preventing
the adoption of the resolution that the Palestinian delegation intends to
table at the forthcoming session of the General Assembly, to recognize a
Palestinian state "within the 1967 borders".

By all standards and criteria, such a resolution, if adopted, would be in
stark violation of all the agreements between Israel and the Palestinians,
as well as contravening UN Security Council resolutions 242(1967) and
338(1973) and those other resolutions based thereon. Our reasoning is as
follows:

1.  The legal basis for the establishment of the State of Israel was the
resolution unanimously adopted by the League of Nations in 1922, affirming
the establishment of a national home for the Jewish People in the historical
area of the Land of Israel. This included the areas of Judea and Samaria and
Jerusalem, and close Jewish settlement throughout. This was subsequently
affirmed by both houses of the US Congress.

2.   Article 80 of the UN Charter determines the continued validity of the
rights granted to all states or peoples, or already existing international
instruments (including those adopted by the League of Nations). Accordingly
the above-noted League resolution remains valid, and the 650,000  Jews
presently  resident  in  the  areas  of  Judea,  Samaria  and eastern
Jerusalem, reside there legitimately.

3.   "The  1967  borders"  do  not  exist,  and  have  never  existed.  The
1949 Armistice  Agreements  entered  into  by  Israel  and  its  Arab
neighbors, establishing the Armistice Demarcation Lines, clearly stated that
these
lines "are without prejudice to future territorial settlements or boundary
lines  or  to  claims  of  either  Party  relating  thereto".  Accordingly
they cannot be accepted or declared to be the international boundaries of a
Palestinian state.

4.   UN Security Council Resolutions 242 (1967) and 338 (1973)called upon
the parties to achieve a just and lasting peace in the Middle East and
specifically stressed the need to negotiate in order to achieve "secure and
recognized boundaries".

5.   The Palestinian proposal, in attempting to unilaterally change the
status of the territory and determine the "1967 borders" as its recognized
borders, in addition to running squarely against resolutions 242 and 338,
would be a fundamental breach of the 1995 Israeli-Palestinian agreement on
the West Bank and the Gaza Strip, in which the parties undertook to
negotiate the issue of borders and not act to change the status of the
territories pending outcome of the permanent status negotiations.

6.   The Palestinians entered into the various agreements constituting what
is known   as   the   "Oslo   Accords"   in   the   full   knowledge   that
Israel's settlements existed in the areas, and that settlements would be one
of the issues to be negotiated in the permanent status negotiations.
Furthermore,   the   Oslo   Accords   impose   no   limitation   on
Israel's settlement activity in those areas that the Palestinians agreed
would continue  to  be  under  Israel's  jurisdiction  and  control  pending
the outcome of the Permanent Status negotiations.

7.   While the Interim Agreement was signed by Israel and the PLO, it was
witnessed by the UN together with the EU, the Russian Federation , the US,
Egypt and Norway. It is thus inconceivable that such witnesses, including
first and foremost the UN, would now give license to a measure in the UN
aimed at violating this agreement and undermining major resolutions of the
Security Council.

8.   While the UN has maintained a persistent policy of non-recognition of
Israel's sovereignty over Jerusalem pending a negotiated solution, despite
Israel's historic rights to the city, it is inconceivable that the UN would
now recognize a unilaterally declared Palestinian state, the borders of
which  would  include  eastern  Jerusalem.  This  would  represent  the
ultimate in hypocrisy, double standards and discrimination, as well as an
utter disregard of the rights of Israel and the Jewish People.

9.   Such unilateral action by the Palestinians could give rise to
reciprocal initiatives   in   the   Israeli   Parliament   (Knesset)   which
could   include proposed legislation to  declare Israel's sovereignty over
extensive parts of Judea and Samaria, if and when the Palestinians carry out
their unilateral action.

Excellency,

It appears to be patently clear to all that the Palestinian exercise, aimed
at advancing their political claims, represents a cynical abuse of the UN
Organization and of the members of the General Assembly. Its aim is to by-
pass the negotiation process called-for by the Security Council.

Regrettably this abuse of the UN and its integrity, in addition to
undermining international law, has the potential to derail the Middle-East
peace process.

We trust that you will use your authority to protect the UN and its
integrity from this abuse, and act to prevent any affirmation or recognition
of this dangerous Palestinian initiative.

Sincerely,

Action Comics 242 - Superman - Dc - National Comics - Approved By The Comics Code Authority - Ultra Force - Curt Swan
...image via Action Comics  #242 ...heh the irony...
Clark Kent and Lois Lane are guest passengers aboard the Columbus – Earth's first manned space vessel. Shortly after breaking the planet's atmosphere, they encounter a strange, alien flying saucer. The ship belongs to Brainiac, a self-styled Master of Science. Clark dons a pressure suit and pretends to space-walk back to Earth (supposedly out of fear). However, when he is outside of Lois' view, he changes into Superman and pushes the Columbus back towards Earth, out of harm's way.

Superman flies towards Brainiac's ship, but even his super-strength is not enough to penetrate the villain's Ultra-Force Shield. From inside the craft, Brainiac uses his Hyper-Ray to steal several Earth cities, including Paris, Rome and New York. He shrinks them down to miniature size and places them inside of special bottles on his craft.

Superman comes up with a plan and flies back to Earth. He arrives in Metropolis, just as the city is hit by Brainiac's Hyper-Ray. Metropolis shrinks in size, and Brainiac places it amongst his collection. Now barely an inch-tall, Superman flies upward pushing the cork out of the top of Metropolis' bottle. Having eluded the Ultra-Force Shield, he is now safely inside his foe’s ship.

Superman flies around the laboratory analyzing Brainiac's collection of stolen cities. He learns that he plans on bringing them back to his home world of Colu, where he will then repopulate his lifeless planet.

Superman finds one bottle without its stopper and flies inside. Surprisingly, the city inside the bottle is Kandor – once the capital city of the dead planet, Krypton. As Kandor synthetic environment is powered by an artificial red sun, Superman loses all of his powers. Brainiac finds the bottle and replaces the stopper.

Inside the shrunken city, Superman meets a scientist named Kimda. Kimda provides Superman with a one-man rocket and a pet animal to help him escape from the city. As he blasts through the bottle's stopper, he learns that Brainiac has now placed himself in suspended animation for the long voyage home. Superman takes control of Brainiac's Hyper-Ray and restores all of Earth's cities back to their normal size and geographic location. He is then prepared to use the ray's final charge on Kandor, but Kimda exits the bottle and activates the Hyper-Ray on Superman. Superman returns to his normal size, and Kimda explains that he could not sacrifice Earth's greatest hero to remain shrunken for the rest of his life.

Superman gathers together the bottle city of Kandor and leaves Brainiac's ship. He returns to Earth, where he places the bottle inside of a special vault in his Fortress of Solitude.

Spain to recognize 'Palestine' on the '1967 lines'

Spain has announced that it will recognize the imaginary state of 'Palestine' on the '1967 lines.'
The Palestinian Authority announced on Thursday that Spain has decided to recognize a Palestinian state along the 1967 lines before September. A spanish diplomat told Palestinian negotiator Nabil Shaath that Spain would support making the state of Palestine a UN member.

...

PA negotiator Nabil Shaath announced on Monday that Spain was planning to recognize the Palestinian state before September.

Shaath’s announcement came after he met in Ramallah with Spanish Consul-General Alfonso Portable.

Shaath said that the PA was pursuing its efforts to secure additional backing and international recognition for the statehood bid.

He said that the Spanish diplomat stressed that his country would support making the state of Palestine a member of the UN.

Shaath said that he was planning to visit Armenia, Moldavia, the Philippines, Mexico and Columbia to persuade them to support the statehood bid in September.

Of course, Spain has yet to recognize the fact that it ceded the island of Gibraltar to Britain in the 1713 Treaty of Utrecht (coat of arms of Gibraltar is above), and it took until 1986 to recognize Israel (Hat Tip: Joshua Trevino via Twitter).

Who says there's no hypocrisy in international relations?

In a recent fatwa posted on his website in response to an online inquiry, Iranian Ayatollah Taqi Mesbah-e Yazdi ruled that martyrdom operations were not only legitimate but were a duty incumbent upon every Muslim.... Regarding the question about Israeli civilians, he ruled that it was forbidden to harm them only if they had openly declared their opposition to their government. Former Mexican president Vicente Fox says Obama should keep his mouth shut on Israeli-Palestinian issue

Labels: » » » »
QUEBEC (CTV) — U.S. President Barack Obama should "stay quiet" rather than try to impose a solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, former Mexican President Vicente Fox said Sunday in Quebec City.
Fox lashed out at the Obama government's foreign policy upon his arrival in Quebec City for the 29th annual meeting of the InterAction Council.
The forum brings together former heads of state, which this year included former U.S. president Bill Clinton and former prime minister Jean Chretien.
The retired leaders will discuss the turmoil in the Arab world and its impact on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict during the forum, which runs from Sunday until Tuesday.
Fox, Mexico's president between 2000 and 2006, criticized Obama's recent comments favouring the creation of a Palestinian state based on 1967 borders.
"I think Obama should stay quiet and let the people of both nations decide their future," Fox told reporters shortly before the ceremonial opening of the InterAction Council.

Mexico was better under his leadership. His disrespect of U.S. borders is unfortunate, perhaps he should look into this specific issue of borders some more. It is nice to see him doing the right thing by Israel

Woman Takes Rapist's Penis to Police

Labels: »

A 40-year-old Bangladeshi woman cut off a man's penis during an alleged attempted rape and took it to a police station as evidence, police in a remote part of Bangladesh said Monday.
The woman, a married mother of three, was attacked while she was sleeping in her shanty in Jhalakathi district, some 200 kilometers (120 miles) south of Dhaka, on Saturday night, officers said.
"As he tried to rape her, the lady cut his penis off with a knife. She then wrapped up the penis in a piece of polythene and brought it to the Jhalakathi police station as evidence of the crime," police chief Abul Khaer told Agence France Presse.
...The severed penis has been kept at the police station and the rape suspect was undergoing treatment in hospital.
"We shall arrest him once his condition gets better," Khaer added.

Israel's VC and startup industry headed for collapse? not while the world still needs to breathe

Is Israel's venture capital and start-up industry headed for collapse? So says Zeev Holzman of Giza Ventures, but others disagree (Hat Tip: Gary P).
Famously and strikingly, last year zero dollars in new venture funds were raised. This year things are looking up, with another big Israeli VC, Pitango, raising $350 million. But the picture is still dire.

Why is Israel, the "Startup Nation" with more Nasdaq-listed companies per capita than any other country, in such a funk?

One reason is that Israeli startups have often been specialized in sectors like security, semiconductors and networking equipment, which can be capital-intensive and that many feel are "played out" for startups.

Another reason is that, like everywhere else, venture firms got too big too fast with the dotcom bubble and so have been delivering poor returns for the past decade. When the lousy VC firms wind down it's going to be felt more in tiny Israel than in Europe or the US.

There's a bright light however: Israel seems to start to "get" the consumer internet. Facebook just bought a local startup for $70 million. Famously, MyAncestry is the fastest-growing genealogy site, crushing Silicon Valley and PayPal Mafia darling Geni. (Believe it or not, genealogy is a huge market online, so this is a big deal.)

The appeal of the consumer internet isn't just that it's sexy, it's that it's much more capital efficient than other sectors, and also seems to be where all the innovation is.

I also note that they don't mention the medical sector, another sector in which we seem to be doing quite well.

I wouldn't count out Israeli venture capital yet, although some sectors might see (and are seeing) a retrenchment.

that is why Jews always became doctors. the only way to get the gentiles to spend money with a Jew was if their lives were threatened. Investment in your health will never shrink.

Germany decides to abandon nuclear power by 2022

Europe's economic powerhouse, Germany, is to abandon nuclear energy over the next eleven years - drawing up an ambitious plan in the wake of Japan's Fukushima disaster to replace atomic power with renewable energy sources.
Chancellor Angela Merkel said Monday she hopes the transformation to more solar, wind and hydroelectric power becomes a test case for other countries. (AP) via ynetnews.com

gaza-flotilla...but the blockade is over. Egypt opened up the border. More proof that human rights were not the reason for the flotilla.
The Free Gaza movement welcomed on Sunday a call from UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon urging Israel to end its blockade on Gaza, but responded to his call on world nations to stop the Gaza aid flotillas by insisting the mission would go ahead as planned.

Pakistanis vow to complete bin Laden's mission to kill Jews in Liberal Western Massachusetts

this is close to home. We have many Mosque's near Poughkeepsie NY.
Some Pakistani’s that have settled in Hampshire County may not share the views of the vast majority of their countrymen and fellow Muslims – that Bin Laden was the greatest Muslim hero since their prophet himself and that his death by the ‘Jew controlled Western powers’ must be avenged.
Pakistani Taliban in New England?

Information found in Bin Laden’s home revealed that many Pakistani students (i.e. Taliban) have already been sent to America to plot attacks on Amtrak train routes that run thru Washington, Philadelphia, New York, Boston, and into many other small towns in New England. These Taliban students often sign up for a class or two at an American college in order to secure a temporary visa. Once in the United States they instantly become full citizens by marrying nice Muslim women provided by their community, who themselves may have just petitioned for citizenship.
Fortunately the members of the Hampshire Mosque follow “a middle path, a path of moderation” and the Western Massachusetts community can be sure that these tolerant, peace loving Muslims will do everything they can to eliminate hateful people, prophets, or other leaders who advocate violence and the killing of Jews, Christians, or other unbelievers…
… just as soon as they explain Dr. Hazratji’s exhortations to Muslim students last year to unite against nefarious Jews and the fitna that they cause in the world, and to become good Muslims by following their prophet’s Sunna by engaging in violence and warfare, whether they liked it or not.
And yet we continue to import them. This is not going to end well.

Scottish "cleansed the presence of Israeli books." like the Holocaust: Denying people the ability to read and think for themselves.

Labels: » » » » » » » » » » » »
...They're claiming that they didn't ban Israeli books,
only books printed in Israel....

  • Recently several districts in southwest Scotland have expanded the boycott on Israeli products, and are now barring stores from carrying English translations of Israeli books.  Shortly after Operation Cast Lead, the West Dunbartonshire Regional Council, located west of Glasgow, approved a bill that called to boycott goods produced in Israel.  After the raid on the Turkish Flotilla to Gaza, the boycott included "a ban on the purchase of English translations of Israeli books and the distribution of these books in public libraries throughout the council's jurisdiction."
The Scottish city of Dundee also joined the West Dunbartonshire by distributing "posters...calling on some 150,000 residents to refrain from buying Israeli goods." Israeli products will also have a special mark placed on them to make them more identifiable. No other country's books are being boycotted.
It is expected that "ten more Scottish councils may join the boycott."
As Giulio Meotti has written, "it is impossible to make an exhaustive list of the economic actions against Israel, with radical anti-Jewish venom spreading through the West" and as Caroline Glick has written, "what did [Israel ever] do to the Scots?"
The Scottish decision is the first time that a European region has actually "cleansed the presence of Israeli books."  It is reminiscent of all the evil associated with the Holocaust - from marking the books to denying people the ability to read and think for themselves.
Meotti, author of A New Shoah: the Untold Story of Israel's Victims of Terrorism poignantly calls for "European intellectuals to stand for truth because the worst of all anti-Jewish persecutions, that of Hitler, almost marked the end of European history.  Now it may happen again."
This despicable Scottish decision to ban Israeli books "is eerily reminiscent of darker times" and demonstrates how far "respectable antisemitism has come."  Anti-Zionism is the new name for antisemitism and "a place that boycotts books is not far from a place that burns them."
West Dunbartonshire Council utterly refutes recent media claims that it has ‘launched a boycott on Israeli books’.
The Council’s boycott does not in any way seek to censor or silence authors and commentators from Israel.
The Council’s boycott only relates to goods ‘made or grown’ in Israel. The vast majority of mainstream books by Israeli authors are published in the UK and are therefore not affected by this boycott. Only books that were printed in Israel and transported to the UK for distribution would be potentially boycotted.
In the two and a half years the boycott has been in place there has never been a case when the library service has been unable to purchase a book it wished to as a result of this boycott.
Contrary also to some media reports the boycott is not retrospective and absolutely no books have been or will be removed from our library shelves as a consequence of the motion.

Young Boy Gets Penis Chopped Off by Assad's Troops

Labels: » » » »
NICOSIA (AFP) - Pro-democracy activists in Syria called for fresh protests on Saturday after the alleged torture and killing of a 13-year-old boy by security forces in the flashpoint region of Daraa.
The body of Hamza Al Khatib was returned to his family on Wednesday, following his disappearance after a demonstration on April 29, activists said on their Facebook site, Syrian Revolution 2011.
"We will go out from every home, from every district to express our anger" over the killing, they wrote on the page which carries a picture of the boy.

"A month had passed by with his family not knowing where he is, or if or when will he be released. He was released to his family as a dead body. Upon examining his body, the signs of torture are very clear," they said.

"There were a few bullets in his body used as a way of torture rather than to kill him with. Clear signs of severe physical abuse appeared on the body such as marks done with hands, sticks, and shoes. Hamza’s penis was also cut off."

Other activists said Khatib decided after police had killed his cousin to take part in the anti-regime protests sweeping the country since mid-March, with their epicentre in the Daraa region of southern Syria.

His father, Ali Al Khatib, has also been arrested, they said.

On Friday, at least 12 people were shot dead as security forces dispersed protests across Syria, activists said, updating an earlier toll of eight dead.

Four protesters were killed in Daraa, another four in a Damascus suburb, three in Homs, central Syria, and one in Latakia on the coast, said the London-based National Organisation for the Defence of Human Rights.

Rami Abdul Rahman, head of the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, urged the country's authorities to investigate the torture to death of the 13-year-old boy and other similar cases.

Seven bodies with torture marks, some with broken necks, were taken to Daraa hospital, he told AFP by telephone in Nicosia, adding that hundreds of cases of torture were being documented.

Since the revolt in Syria erupted, Friday protests following weekly Muslim prayers are widely seen as a barometer of whether activists are able to maintain momentum despite a heavy handed repression.

More than 1,000 people have been killed and 10,000 others arrested since the revolt began, according to rights groups. Syrian authorities say 143 soldiers, security forces and police have been killed.

Foreign journalists are barred from travelling inside Syria, making it difficult to report on the unrest and verify witness accounts.

The government insists the unrest is the work of "armed terrorist gangs" backed by Islamists and foreign agitators.

It initially responded to the revolt by offering some concessions, including lifting the state of emergency in place for nearly five decades, but coupled this with a fierce crackdown.

Al Jazeera reported that after receiving his body, Khatib’s family was visited by Syrian secret police, who arrested the boy’s father. The boy’s mother said officers ordered her husband to say the boy was killed by armed Salafists, or ultra-conservative Muslims, whom Assad has claimed as being behind the unrest. She said the secret police had warned her not to speak to the press, threatening, “You know what would happen if we heard you had spoken to the media.”

Peres: Israel should write its own peace plan

Israel's President Shimon Peres told Deputy Secretary General of the United Nations Asha-Rose Migiro that Israel has no objections to a UN resolution declaring a 'Palestinian state' so long as the resolution includes provisions allowing Israel to live in 'security.'
Israel does not object to the United Nations passing a resolution calling for the establishment of a Palestinian State, providing that such a resolution includes provisions for Israel's right to live in security, President Shimon Peres told Deputy Secretary General of the United Nations Asha-Rose Migiro on Sunday.
...
In emphasizing the need for the UN resolution to include a guarantee for Israel's right to live in security, Peres clarified that security means stopping terror, as well as halting the smuggling of arms. If the resolution deals only with the security of Israel, he said, the Palestinians won't be satisfied, and if it relates only to a Palestinian State, the Israelis won't be satisfied. Therefore, he said, the resolution must contain the two components.
Who appointed the guy who couldn't be elected dog catcher as our spokesman?
what side is Peres on? Bring back the last PM Moshe Katsav and throw him some young female staff workers as a sacrifice.

Cameron resigns as Jewish National Fund patron

Palestine on an institutional level is more interested in burning people and the land of Israel down then actually saving it:

Palestine Against Trees?

Due to pressure from a pro-'Palestinian' group, British Prime Minister David Cameron has resigned as a patron of the Jewish National Fund.
A pro-Palestinian group is claiming responsibility for British Prime Minister David Cameron's stepping down as a patron of the Jewish National Fund.
Cameron's name was removed from the JNF's list of honorary patrons in recent days; earlier this month the pro-Palestinian Stop the JNF campaign sent a letter to Cameron calling on him to end his association with the charity.
Cameron recently stepped down from several charities, his spokesperson told the British newspaper The Guardian. His predecessors Gordon Brown and Tony Blair remained associated with JNF throughout their terms in office, according to the newspaper.
"Following the formation of the coalition government, a review was undertaken of all the organizations and charities the prime minister was associated with. As a result of this review, the prime minister stepped down from a number of charities – this included the JNF," the prime minister's office said in a statement.
"There has been a change in public opinion and awareness about Israel's behavior and there was specific pressure on [Cameron] to step down from the JNF," Sofiah Macleod of the UK-based Stop the JNF Campaign told The Guardian. "We believe he has stepped down as a result of this political pressure. Given the establishment support that the JNF has received, it's not a decision he will have taken lightly."
The next thing we will hear is that someone in the British government belongs to the IHH.
JNF are a progressive organization that plants trees. if anything they plant trees where Muslims live too. I have a feeling this is more about Cameron's weakness more then anything to protect his own people from the assault of Islam more then anything else. He also could be completely stupid... that too.
