Last spring, the Jesuit sociologist Micheál MacGréil published the disturbing results of a study on Irish identity and pluralism that found direct links between anti-Israel hysteria and antisemitism in Ireland. More than half of the study's opinion-poll respondents said they would be unwilling to accept a Jew as a family member, and anti-Jewish bigotry registered the highest in the 18-25 age group. A fifth of the poll respondents said they would bar Irish citizenship to Israelis, and 11.5 per cent said they would bar Irish citizenship to Jews.

Europeans Increasingly Converting to Islam

A man who converts to a religion that says to kill Jews after having the honor of becoming famous because of a mediocre Holocaust movie. The Irish were Nazi allies during World War 2... so were the Muslims. Their identified enemy were the British and the Jews. (Stone Gate Institute Org) Irish actor Liam Neeson says he is thinking about becoming a Muslim after undergoing a spiritual awakening in Turkey. Neeson, who was born into a Roman Catholic family in Ballymena, Northern Ireland, told the London-based newspaper The Sun that he was impressed by the religious atmosphere in Istanbul while filming a movie in the city. He said: "The [Islamic] call to prayer happens five times a day, and for the first week, it drives you crazy, and then it just gets into your spirit, and it's the most beautiful, beautiful thing. There are 4,000 mosques in the city. Some are just stunning, and it really makes me think about becoming a Muslim." The most hostile country in the European Union

Labels:
(Israel Matzav) If you had asked me who is the most hostile country to Israel in the European Union, I would have bet on Sweden. Maybe France. But it's neither of those. Two and a half years ago, my friend Dymphna posted a lengthy post about anti-Semitism in Ireland. And since then it has only gotten worse.
An outrageous anti-Israel display was held over the weekend on Dublin's main pedestrian street, presenting IDF soldiers as Nazi troops.
As part of the display, sponsored by the Dublin City Council, a group of pro-Palestinian activists set up a model of the separation fence and an IDF roadblock.
The activists dressed up as soldiers and beat, humiliated and pointed their weapons at other activists dressed as Palestinians, in front of thousands of Irish citizens and tourists.
The display joins accusations voiced against Israel at the Irish parliament last week, on the backdrop of claims that Israel "kidnapped", abused and undressed Irish nationals who took part in a Gaza-bound flotilla stopped by the Israeli army recently.
Israel has strongly denied the accusations.
But that's not all. A Facebook group launched about two months ago called for heavy rocks to be thrown at the Israeli Embassy building in Dublin. Anti-Israel elements recently vandalized a Dublin auditorium slated to host a concert by Israeli singer Izhar Ashdot.
The Facebook accounts of Israeli Embassy officials have been attacked by Irish hackers and, in addition, anti-Israeli elements are attempting to disrupt an Israeli film festival organized by the embassy in Dublin next week.
"The Irish government is feeding its people with anti-Israel hatred," an Israeli official argued. "What we are seeing here is clear anti-Semitism."
Another country to cross off your summer vacation list. Dymphna reports that Ireland has a long history of this kind of behavior.
When you read these awful Israel-condemning debates in the Irish Senate, remember that Ireland is a country that was neutral during the Holocaust, that sent condolences to Germany on the death of Hitler, and that refused to allow almost any Jewish refugees in, either before, during or after the war. I don’t at all think the Irish politicians are anti-semitic. Rather, they have a range of trendy reasons for their views. But I think Ireland - like most of Europe - should shut up about Jews for a few hundred years.
Indeed.
I feel it a bit in the American Irish community as well. It is shrouded in radical politics, but it is there. That said... there are some Irish Americans who have become part of the Anti-Jihad crowd. Many of Irish blood in New York lost loved ones during 911, but I still feel it is an unstable alliance with Jews. My son is part Irish. It is always kind of there. I wish it were not.

India – Cricket World Champions

Whatay match it turned out to be after the underwhelming semi-final with Pakistan. After conceding 274 runs and getting down to 31/2 with both Sehwag and Tendulkar back in the pavilion, people had started losing hope of ever winning the World Cup in their lifetime. But fans on Twitter kept the hopes alive and India’s much-vaunted batting lineup finally came good as Gautam Gambhir, Virat Kohli, Yuvraj Singh, and most importantly, the Indian captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni saw India home safely. MS Dhoni finished the match in grand style by lofting Kulasekara for a huge six to set off celebrations all over India.
It took 28 years but in the end, it was worth the wait. This World Cup compared to the others had been especially exciting with great performances mostly involving Ireland, Bangladesh, and England. Taylor’s blitzkrieg against Pakistan was also a sight to behold but in the end, it was India that remained consistent and won the day. Shabash, India.

Debt tensions flare up as Ireland denies bailout...

wow is this familiar. I love the way the world laughs at America till they realize that their bath tub is full of the same shit.  Am I the only American that is tired of these backwards Eurotrash that think they are so progressive when in fact they are usually about a year behind... that is why they laugh at us... because they don't know shit.

A banner complaining about high shop rents is hung on a shop front in central Dublin Friday Nov. 12, 2010. Ireland's debt crisis eased a notch Friday after European governments reassured investors that new, tougher terms for bailouts will not expose them to higher costs on their current holdings. Traders have been dumping Ireland's sovereign bonds on fears the government will be unable to manage its outsized banking crisis and that new EU rules being discussed will force investors to take on heavier losses in case of a bailout.

Ireland's Law Of Return

Israel's Law of Return is sometimes held to be racist because it confers the right to citizenship on Jews born outside Israel who may have had no previous connection with it.

Another Double Standard.
Ireland has the same law.
Mary Robinson you suck
the Israeli right of return gives that right to anyone with Jewish grandparents or parents, so these people wishing to become citizens can be non-Jews, they only need relatives who were born Jewish and did not convert to other religions and there are those who converted to Judiasm.

Court upholds deportation of Nobel laureate

Labels: » »

By calling her a “Nobel laureate” (in the headline, no less) AP gives her respectability. But anyone who takes the trouble to read well into this report, discovers that she has the audacity to compare “the Jewish state’s reported nuclear arsenal to Hitler’s gas chambers.” Comparing Israel to the Nazi-regime falls under the European definition of anti-Semitism. She is an ordinary Jew-hater, that you put on as a respectable person.
She shows more signs of pathological hatred for the Jewish people by accusing the Jewish state of “apartheid and the ethnic cleansing of the Palestinian people.” What does AP do with this? It quotes it verbatim and doesn’t explain that Israel is a parliamentarian democracy with Arabs represented and representing the state at all levels of society, so no apartheid state. And if anyone tries to cleanse any group it are those that want to remove Jews from the West Bank. To falsely accuse Jews of being genocidal is the biggest & most tasteless chutzpah.
But this is not all by far. The above comes just from the information AP provides. But when we turn to the Left-wing Israeli daily Haaretz we found out that AP omitted that the Court had rejected her petition not because it was not sympathetic to this Irish bigot. Rather, she had sidestepped the normal procedure to obtain permission to enter and took the law into her own hands. And then the Court recommended through leniency that she would get a two-day entry permit, but the state rejected that compromise. As usual with Israel by AP, Israel is portrayed as the aggressor and the real aggressor is depicted as a victim.
Last but not least, this smiling monster is not just an Israel critic or a Jew hater. She has actively participated in endangering the lives of ordinary citizens by participating in braking the defensive blockade of Gaza. Israel has not just the right but also the duty to protect its inhabitants against the infiltration of dangerous individuals. That is more important than stopping her from spreading her hateful propaganda and encouraging other liars and hate mongers. Israeli democracy has no trouble with extremist opinions. But extremist activists are a different ballgame.
The straight-shooting legal reporter of the well-respected Right-wing Israeli daily the Jerusalem Post makes known that Supreme Court President Dorit Benisch made it clear that she did not believe the contestant’s claim that she did not know about the deportation order issued against her in 2009 and 2010, each for 10 years, and believes that she did not come to Israel in good faith or with “friendly intentions.” She added that we should not think that they would cast doubt on Israel’s sovereignty “because of this woman.” This truth and the conciliatory recommendation to admit her anyway would have hurt the image of this would-be infiltrator so AP left this out.
Once again around Israel, AP has chosen the side of anti-democrats and Israel-haters. It only had to lie and slander to get there – a bargain.
JERUSALEM — Israel’s Supreme Court on Monday upheld a deportation order against an Irish Nobel peace laureate who has taken up the Palestinian cause, clearing the way for her expulsion, a court official said. Israel banned Mairead Corrigan Maguire, 66, from entering the country because of her attempt to breach Israel’s naval blockade of Gaza aboard a ship in June. A lower court upheld the deportation order Friday, and she appealed to Israel’s highest judicial body. Court spokeswoman Ayalet Filo said late Monday that the Supreme Court rejected her appeal. Interior Ministry spokeswoman Sabin Hadad said Maguire was taken to Israel’s airport and would be put on the first available flight out.
She won the peace prize in 1976 for her efforts to end sectarian violence in Northern Ireland, but has since turned most of her attention to the Palestinian cause.
Maguire was detained last Tuesday after landing at the airport in Tel Aviv on her way to meet Israeli and Palestinian peace activists.
During Monday’s Supreme Court hearing, Maguire called on Israel to cease what she called its “apartheid” policy against the Palestinian people.
“This is no place for propaganda,” Justice Asher Grunis retorted and cut her off. The session ended soon thereafter.
The government opposed a court-proposed compromise that Maguire be allowed to join the delegation for two days and then leave.
Maguire’s lawyers said they expect her to be deported, a decision that could further tarnish Israel’s image abroad. Interior Ministry officials say Maguire knew she would not be allowed into the country but sought to provoke an incident.
Send her to Iran. Send her to Sudan. Send her to a Muslim country. The should be her punishment. Don't send her back to Europe

Three New Poems by so called American Taliban John Walker Lindh

Labels: » » » » » »
An Islamist organization devoted to supporting Guantanamo Bay detainees and other prisoners held on charges of terrorism has posted three poems that it said it received from John Walker Lindh. An American citizen, Lindh was captured in Afghanistan in 2001, and is currently serving a 20-year prison sentence after agreeing to a plea bargain.
Each of the poems is signed "Abu Sulayman Al-Irlandi, Detainee #001," and dated Ramadan 1431 (i.e. August-September 2010). "Al-Irlandi" means "the Irishman," and the poems themselves contain additional nods to Lindh's Irish heritage, including a reference to himself as "a Mussulman [i.e. Muslim] Paddy."
The first poem, "The Ballad of the Fleas," is about the war in Afghanistan, and depicts the Americans as callous Crusaders, their local allies as un-Islamic hypocrites, and the Taliban as noble soldiers who have been unjustly maligned: "For wolves may foam and bark and bite / And gnash and gnaw and hiss / But if a sheep should dare bite back / He'd be a terrorist." The second poem, "Ode to Omar Khadr," is dedicated to a Guantanamo Bay detainee who is accused of having been a teenage Al-Qaeda operative. Much of this poem deals with alleged misconduct in Khadr's detention and trial: "I end with a message to every oppressor / To each gavel-grasping bench-squatting cross-dresser / As you judge you'll be judged and my closing remark is / A victory jig on the back of your carcass." The third poem, "A Mussulman Paddy's Epistle to Barry," is addressed to President Obama, and uses an inversion of Revolutionary War-era imagery to promise him defeat in Afghanistan: "So lie on the ground like a parcel of noodles / And sing how the Yankees were beat by Pushtoodles [i.e. the Pushtun]."
In a related matter, in August 2010 Lindh and another Muslim inmate have asked a federal judge in Indianapolis, where he is incarcerated, to allow them and other Muslims to pray as a group. The ACLU subsequently filed a motion on Lindh's behalf, claiming that the prison's policy violates the prisoners' First Amendment right to free religious expression.
Me thinks the Irishman is good with words, but lacking wisdom. Witty... like his heritage and unfortunately confused. The Irish and Arabs have much in common with their focus on prose and rhythm. It is too bad poor Lindh followed his own radicalism to his fate... he might of been amusing to of listened to in an Irish bar. John Walker Lindh might of been a better writer if he had looked at the source of the homophobia that led to his fate instead of writing prose that demonizes cross dressing. Poor Lindh was a child of the sexual revolution and his cross dressing Irish daddy in San Fransisco is the source of his fears. In psychological terms this is called projection.

Note for Israel-PA Talks: It Was not The Luck of the Irish But Effective Counter-Terrorism That Brought Peace

Labels: »
As direct Israeli-Palestinian direct talks restart it is useful to recall the use and misuse of an analogy to the case of Northern Ireland.

In October 2001, British Foreign Minister Jack Straw visited Washington and held a press conference with his U.S. counterpart, Secretary of State Colin Powell. Powell bubbled over about how the Irish agreement supposedly showed:

"An example of what can be achieved when people of good will come together, recognize they have strong differences, differences that they have fought over for years, but it's time to put those differences aside in order to move forward and to provide a better life for the children of Northern Ireland."

This is the sort of naive optimism (let's all just get along, peace is the natural order of things, everybody is really moderate at heart) that Americans so often evince. As the great French intellectual Raymond Aron once explained, "The Americans always have the tendency to believe that wars result from misunderstanding or accidents and suppose that no one could possibly want a war."

In this case, though, Straw dumped cold water on Powell's world view." What he said is worth quoting fully:

"Could I just add one thing to that, if I may? Of course, negotiation is far, far better--infinitely better -- than military action. As far as Northern Ireland is concerned, we welcome hugely the progress that has been made following the Good Friday Agreement. It also has to be said that before that happened, there had to be a change of approach by those who saw terrorism as the answer. And that approach partly changed because of the firmness of the military and police response to that terrorism. And if there had not been that firm response by successive British governments and others to the terrorist threat that was posed on both sides, we would not have been able to get some of those people into negotiations. We would not be marking what is a satisfactory day in the history of Northern Ireland today."

In other words, the terrorists were defeated by tough action, saw they couldn't win, and thus had to change their approach. Of course, in the Israel-Palestinian case, there has been no such attitude toward terrorism internationally. Hamas has been saved as the Gaza Strip's ruler thanks to Western action; the Palestinian side has not been forced to pay the price for violence and intransigence (rejecting Camp David and the Clinton plan, launching a second intifadah, continuing incitement, etc.) and thus has been had to give up the hope of total victory and belief that violence and intransigence could bring that about.

That's a key reason why the current talks will fail.

Europe Wants to Divide Jerusalem - Hudson New York

Europe Wants to Divide Jerusalem

The European Union on December 8 adopted a resolution that for the first time explicitly calls for Jerusalem to become the future capital of both a Palestinian state and Israel. Backing away only slightly from a more controversial Swedish proposal to officially call for the division of Jerusalem, the EU declared: “If there is to be a genuine peace, a way must be found through negotiations to resolve the status of Jerusalem as the future capital of two states.”
it is illegal for an outside power to decide the borders within the former British Mandate of Palestine. Borders can only be settled by the occupants. and there never was an agreement that would make Jerusalem an international city. the closest to this concept was before the state of Israel and it was always to be balanced by a vote within the city. at the time of this legislation the Jews were a two thirds majority in the city... before being ethnically cleansed by the later power of Jordan. The E.U. might like to have a say, but they are legally bound to respect the territory.
http://docstalk.blogspot.com/2009...
"If the West Bank and Gaza were de jure part of the British Mandate, and if the Mandate borders [article 25] are the last legal document concerning this territory; and if Jews were forcibly expelled from the West Bank and Gaza in 1948 during a war of aggression aimed at them - then these Territories must be considered disputed Territories, at the least."
http://r-mew.blogspot.com/2009...
"Jerusalem is a single city with Jews composing over two-thirds of the total population and 42% of the population in the east. This latter number would likely be even greater had Jordan not ethnically cleansed thousands of Jews from the Old City (whose families had lived there for centuries) after invading in 1948. To describe Jews now living in this area as "settlers" with its obvious colonialist connotation is both intellectually dishonest and morally repugnant.""

The original proposal drafted by Swedish Foreign Minister Carl Bildt, a well-known pro-Palestinian activist whose country currently holds the six-month rotating presidency of the EU, had called for the creation of a “State of Palestine with East Jerusalem as its capital.” Israeli officials, angry over EU efforts to prejudge the outcome of issues reserved for permanent status negotiations, persuaded French diplomats to remove the offending text, as well as other references to a Palestinian state that would comprise “the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, and Gaza.”
Israel has always maintained that Jerusalem will remain its undivided capital, regardless of any future peace settlement with the Palestinians. This has been the declared policy of all Israeli governments, both left and right.
The EU statement, which comes just days after Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced a 10-month freeze on construction in West Bank settlements, will be viewed by many as a European attempt to pre-empt any possible resumption of Middle East peace talks by helping the Palestinians improve their negotiating position vis-à-vis Israel.
Although the 27-member EU has limited clout as a diplomatic player in the Arab-Israel conflict, the EU is the biggest donor of financial assistance to Palestinian Authority, which has been accused of diverting the money to promote terror against Israel. The EU statement, which is predictably one-sided, could end up disincentivizing a new round of negotiations: the Palestinians may well be emboldened by the EU’s tacit acceptance of their key positions and be led to believe that if they hold out longer, the EU will support them on other core issues as well.
The EU resolution overwhelmingly supports Palestinian statehood. For example, paragraph 3 of the EU text states:
“The EU stands ready to further develop its bilateral relations with the Palestinian Authority reflecting shared interests, including in the framework of the European Neighbourhood Policy. Recalling the Berlin declaration, the Council also reiterates its support for negotiations leading to Palestinian statehood, all efforts and steps to that end and its readiness, when appropriate, to recognise a Palestinian state. It will continue to assist Palestinian statebuilding, including through its CSDP [EU Common Security and Defense Policy] missions and within the Quartet. The EU fully supports the implementation of the Palestinian Authority’s Government Plan ‘Palestine, Ending the Occupation, Establishing the State’ as an important contribution to this end and will work for enhanced international support for this plan.”
The EU resolution also puts the onus exclusively on Israel to revive the peace process. For example, paragraph 6 states:
“The [European] Council reiterates that settlements, the separation barrier where built on occupied land, demolition of homes and evictions are illegal under international law, constitute an obstacle to peace and threaten to make a two-state solution impossible. The Council urges the government of Israel to immediately end all settlement activities, in East Jerusalem and the rest of the West Bank and including natural growth, and to dismantle all outposts erected since March 2001.”
(1) notice they don't have any problem with the fence that Egypt is building to protect themselves from Gaza.
(2) notice they don't have any problems with Arab settlements before an agreement comes
(3) notice they never have described any of the original evictions that Jordan did to the occupants
And the EU resolution presupposes the future status of Jerusalem. Paragraph 8 states:
“The Council is deeply concerned about the situation in East Jerusalem. In view of recent incidents, it calls on all parties to refrain from provocative actions. The European Council recalls that it has never recognised the annexation of East Jerusalem. If there is to be a genuine peace, a way must be found through negotiations to resolve the status of Jerusalem as the future capital of two states. The Council calls for the reopening of Palestinian institutions in Jerusalem in accordance with the Roadmap. It also calls on the Israeli government to cease all discriminatory treatment of Palestinians in East Jerusalem.”
so the Council expects the perpetrators of the Holocaust do be the last word on recognition of a Jewish state?
At the same time, the EU statement says nothing about the Palestinian refusal to recognize and respect Israel as a Jewish state; nor does it request Palestinians to accept Israel’s offer to return to the negotiating table.
of course they don't expect Palestine to return to the table to negotiate. the E.U. and possibly Obama expect to negotiate for Palestine
Not surprisingly, Palestinian Prime Minister Salam Fayyad has hailed the EU statement, saying it marks an important stage on the road to Palestinians establishing an independent state with its capital in East Jerusalem.
Europe is doing the evil legwork that Hamas can't do because they are too busy killing Jews behind trees.
Chief Palestinian negotiator Saeb Erekat says the EU statement will help to demarcate the borders of a future Palestinian state. “The statement is very important and essential, we can rely on it during our diplomatic movement to gain a massive European consensus and support over the demarcation of a future Palestinian state in the Security Council,” Erekat told Voice of Palestine Radio.
Israeli officials believe the Palestinians are orchestrating a diplomatic campaign with Europe to coerce Israel into accepting the establishment of a Palestinian state. Military Intelligence Chief Amos Yadlin, Shin Bet Director Yuval Diskin and other top defense officials say the Palestinian Authority is working with the EU to force Israel into a settlement “from above.”
In the meantime, EU-Israeli relations are likely to remain tense. Ireland, for example, is fuming over Netanyahu’s refusal to allow Irish Foreign Minister Micheál Martin, a vocal critic of Israel, from entering the Hamas-controlled Gaza Strip. Netanyahu says high-profile diplomats will be banned from entering Gaza because he believes such visits grant legitimacy to Hamas, which seized the coastal strip by force in 2007.
Sweden is also angry with Israel. In August 2009, the Swedish newspaper Aftonbladet published an article that called for an investigation into claims that Israeli soldiers harvested organs from dead Palestinians. Bildt has refused to condemn the article, saying Sweden has a “free press.” Instead, he cancelled a visit to Israel, which was scheduled for September.
Bildt is now furious that Israel was able to persuade France to block his effort to create a Palestinian capital in East Jerusalem. He said Israel should desist from trying to divide the EU, which he insists is a “cohesive and clear force” on global issues, including the Middle East.
Bildt comments were in response to those made by Israeli Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman, who said that Bildt wanted to present the EU declaration as his achievement before Sweden’s six-month EU presidency ends on December 31. “Sweden, which is completing its term as holder of the EU rotating presidency without any achievements or any significant returns, tried toward the end of its term to steal the show and steal the vote. That didn’t succeed,” Lieberman told Israel Radio.
In any case, Israel can expect more trouble coming from the EU in the months ahead. On January 1, 2010, Spain, which has one of the most anti-Israel governments in Europe, takes over the EU presidency. Socialist Prime Minister José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero, an outspoken critic of Israel, has already promised to make the Palestinian issue a center-piece of Spain’s six-month presidency.
