Green Fail: New York Metro Gives Up on Hybrid Busses
In a reversal of greenism, Michael Bloomberg’s New York Metropolitan Transit Agency is giving up on hybrid transportation.
The city with the mayor nicknamed “Nanny Bloomberg” may be stumping for all sorts of chic, activist causes, from the campaign to rid us of our Second Amendment rights, to the elimination of trans fats in our foods, to the downsizing of soda portions, but one cause the city is souring on is hybrid busses.
The New York Post reports that the city hasn’t bought a new hybrid buss in three years and is now moving to retrofit many of the ones it has with diesel engines.
The MTA is reporting that it will retrofit 389 hybrid electric busses with diesel engines because the hybrid engines are too unreliable and too expensive to repair.
“The electric-traction motors are burning out. They’re so expensive to replace that it’ll be cheaper to stick a diesel engine in there,” a source inside the MTA told the Post.
MTA officials also point out that new diesel engines are at least as fuel-efficient as the hybrids are these days, so the savings in fuel is no longer a chief selling point for new hybrids. But, despite the new efficiency of the diesel engines on the market today, it is the cost of repairs that is driving the retrofits.
As it happens, the five-year warrantee is about to run out on many units of New York’s hybrid bus fleet and repair costs will soon devolve from the manufacturer to the city. The costs for maintenance will skyrocket.
About 1,677 out of the MTA’s fleet of 5,719 busses are hybrids.
Anti-Gun Mayor Arrested For Attempting To Force 20-Year-Old Into Gay Sex At Gunpoint
Hypocritical Dipstick Alert: Mayor Against Guns Shoots At 20yr. Old Male He Tried To Rape – ClashDaily
In a very strange and sad story developing out of Pennsylvania, one of Michael Bloomberg’s “Mayors Against Illegal Guns” members has found himself in jail. James Schiliro, mayor of Marcus Hook, Pennsylvania, was arrested this past Thursday for official oppression, reckless endangerment, unlawful restraint, false imprisonment, and furnishing a minor with alcohol.
.
Schiliro ordered a local policemen to bring him a 20-year-old male to his home. At which point Schiliro allegedly served the minor alcohol and tried to have sex with him. When the minor refused, Schiliro apparently retrieved multiple handguns, where he then proceeded to fire one of them in the minors direction as a form of intimidation.
.
.
Schiliro was released on bail and states he will be fighting the charges.

Genius! NYC Leaves Marathon Generators in Central Park, Residents Lash Out at Bloomberg
That Mike Bloomberg is looking more presidential by the day, huh?
What a run-around!Breathing, it’s really overrated, especially when a blowhard like Bloomberg needs so much oxygen.
The city left more than a dozen generators desperately needed by cold and hungry New Yorkers who lost their homes to Hurricane Sandy still stranded in Central Park yesterday.
And that’s not all — stashed near the finish line of the canceled marathon were 20 heaters, tens of thousands of Mylar “space” blankets, jackets, 106 crates of apples and peanuts, at least 14 pallets of bottled water and 22 five-gallon jugs of water.
This while people who lost their homes in the Rockaways, Coney Island and Staten Island were freezing and going hungry.
Michael Murphy, of Staten Island, who had no power and no heat, said yesterday, “We needed 100 percent of the resources here.”
“If those generators were here, we maybe could have had some light for the cleanup effort,” he said. “Those generators would really have come in handy.’’
Larry Gold, 61, of Rockaway Park, who has difficulty breathing, can’t use his oxygen tank without electricity.
“I need power to breathe,’’ he said.
Meanwhile, the beloved mayor braved the elements to visit some New Yorkers, where he was warmly greeted.

ok, it's horrible, and I'm not in love with Islam enabling Bloomberg, but this is not really his fault. I'm reposting it howeverBloomberg: The Government Should Make Immigrants Live In Detroit, If They “Survive 7 Years” Make Them Citizens…Bloomberg: The Government Should Make Immigrants Live In Detroit, If They “Survive 7 Years” Make Them Citizens…

Genius!
(CNSNews.com) – Mayor Michael Bloomberg of New York said last week that the federal government should assign immigrants to live in cities such as Detroit and “if they survive seven years” make them citizens.
“All the federal government’s got to do is say, ‘We’re gonna welcome here in this country–first come, first served–families, if they’re willing to come here under the following terms,: Bloomberg said in Boston on Aug. 14. “We’re going to assign you a city–let’s say Detroit–you got to agree to not be arrested and not take any federal, state or city money, and you’ve got to live there for seven years, and if you survive seven years, we’ll make you and your family full citizens.”
Bloomberg was speaking along with News Corporation Chairman and CEO Rupert Murdoch at a forum sponsored by the New England Council.
Bloomberg predicted if the federal government assigned immigrants to cities such as Detroit they would buy and fix up “houses that are derelict,” improve the local schools, create businesses and stimulate the local economy.

Sarcastic, but think what a city like Detroit would do to Catholic immigrants from Mexico? They'd all get converted to Islam... I suppose Bloomberg would be fine with that.Cancelled New York City Vibrator Giveaway Leaves Crowds Buzzing
Why does New York City mayor Michael Bloomberg hate women? First he’s taking away their Big Gulp’s, then he was denying them access to baby formula, and now he’s keeping them from picking up a free pocket rocket…
From AP:
The Trojan condom company set up “Pleasure Carts” on Wednesday in two Manhattan neighborhoods, and were set to give away 10,000 vibrating sex toys. Nearly 300 people had lined up at each of the hot-dog-style carts.
According to the New York Post, the giveaway was interrupted when a city representative told the promoters to shut down because of crowds.
One of those on line, Melody Henry, grumbled that Mayor Michael Bloomberg “doesn’t want anyone to have fun. You can’t have a giant soda, You can’t have a vibrator.”
The city says the promotional event could resume at a later date with proper permits.

In full view of bemused tourists and other passers-by, workers yesterday performed what looked like a comedy routine: They hoisted a standard room air conditioner to a side window of one of the mayor’s SUVs parked in the City Hall lot to see if it would fit.
“There is far less emissions corresponding to the power of a single air conditioner on the grid than idling a V-8 engine,” Loeser said.
When temperatures hit the high 90s a week ago, Bloomberg visited the Bronx Works senior center and called on New Yorkers to turn off “all non-essential appliances.”
“It only takes a couple of minutes to cool off a room,” he said at the time.
Georgina Bloomberg on Soda Ban: ‘People Should Be Allowed to Make Their Own Bad Choices’
If we all were Billionaires then we could be this arrogantly stupid and people would listen to us. If they really cared about the people... and they don't... they'd allow people to buy what they want on the free market and the money would go towards marketing healthy lives. Feminist progressives like this girl don't really care. The men are pissed... and they want to smoke a J and these Democrats have made K2 illegal... Legalize Marijuana already! Stop picking on the working guy. You know your Dad is trying to make it harder for someone to share a bottle of Coke. You are trying to make NYC an upscale playground for people like you and your Dad. Do you really think NYC has the money to subsidize healthy food? I pray to G-d that her ilk will not be running the country. Yeah... the country club is full of elitists... and they sometimes have big mouths.![]()
In the week or so since Mayor Bloomberg unveiled his plan to ban the sale of unnecessarily large sweetened beverages, the local media has been flush with rants from deli-cart owners, Coca Cola execs, and Joe Blow on the street. Which is hardly surprising. But Bloomberg might not have expected to some of the criticism to come from his own family "His intentions are good. And, it’s the kind of thing that the public will thank him for in twenty years," the mayor's 29-year-old daughter, Georgina, told us at a cocktail soiree hosted by Stefano Tonchi for Gucci’s Frida Gianni last night. "However," she continued, "people should be allowed to make their own bad choices."Bloomberg the Younger suggested that her father adopt a more market-based approach to fighting obesity. "Ideally," she said, "he would lower the cost of healthy food instead of banning unhealthy food. If people were able to afford to eat nutritious food, I think they would make better choices."
As for her? "I really like Fresca," she said.
Bloomberg likes weed, not Coca Cola // so then why not legalize both?

Really... take the plunge. Legalize Marijuana. This is silly
(Daily Caller) New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg (AP Photo/David Karp) New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg said Monday he would support New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s proposal to decrease arrests for marijuana possession during routine police stops, reports The New York Times. The announcement comes days after Bloomberg’s announced proposal to limit the size of sodas in the city. Cuomo wants lawmakers to decriminalize possession of small amounts of marijuana in public view. Current state law results in the arrest of thousands of people for having small amounts of marijuana in public view because they had been ordered to empty their pockets during police stops. The governor’s proposal seeks to make possession of 25 grams or less of marijuana in public view a violation instead of a misdemeanor. The maximum fine would be $100 for first-time offenders, and there would be no possibility of jail time. New York City police commissioner Raymond W. Kelly issued a memorandum to officers last September ordering them not to arrest people who only have marijuana displayed in public as a result of being ordered by police officers to empty their pockets. The governor’s proposal is “consistent with the commissioner’s directive,” Bloomberg said. However, there is evidence that Kelly’s memorandum had little effect on low-level marijuana arrests.
Bloomberg Assails Showing of Anti-Muslim Film to Police - NYTimes.com
They say it like it is a bad thing |
(cityroom.blogs.nytimes.com) Mike Groll/Associated PressThe mayor on Tuesday. ALBANY – Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg said Tuesday that whoever decided to show a film depicting American Muslims as extremists to nearly 1,500 city police officers “exercised some terrible judgment.”
Mr. Bloomberg said that neither he nor the police commissioner, Raymond W. Kelly, had known at the time that the film, “The Third Jihad,” was being shown to officers. Speaking to reporters after testifying here at a state budget hearing, Mr. Bloomberg said that the film had not been shown at the Police Academy.
“It was done someplace else and as soon as they found out about it they stopped it and took it down,” Mr. Bloomberg said. “Somebody exercised some terrible judgment. I don’t know who. We’ll find out.”
When the screening of the film for some officers was first revealed last year by Tom Robbins of The Village Voice, the Police Department’s main spokesman, Paul J. Browne, said it had been screened “a couple of times.”But an article in The New York Times Tuesday, based on documents received by the Brennan Center for Justice at New York University Law School through a Freedom of Information request, showed that it had been shown repeatedly for at least three months.
The film says that few Muslim leaders can be trusted. It also includes an interview with Mr. Kelly, which, Mr. Browne said, had been lifted from old footage.
Occupy Wall Street Protesters Cleared From Zuccotti Park
(h/t EYE) |
(ABC) More than 100 people were arrested after New York police dressed in riot gear made a surprise early-morning visit to clear out Zuccotti Park in lower Manhattan, the main camp of the Occupy Wall Street movement. Although authorities had planned to let the protesters back in after a clean-up — without their tents and tarps — a judge apparently issued a restraining order prohibiting reentry.
Protesters were ordered to leave the park at 1 a.m. Tuesday, on the two-month anniversary of the Occupy Wall Street movement, which quickly spread to cities across the country and globe.
In a press conference Tuesday morning, Mayor Michael Bloomberg said that the protesters and their equipment had become a health and safety hazard and they were preventing others from using the privately-owned park.
“The First Amendment doesn’t protect the use of tents and sleeping bags,” Bloomberg said. “Now they will have to occupy the park with just the power of their arguments.” The mayor said the city would review the judge’s order and decide when to reopen the park.
According to New York’s Deputy Police Commissioner for Public Information Paul Browne, 70 arrests were made at the park. Coupled with earlier arrests on Broadway north of the park, more than 100 protesters were taken into custody.
The final group of about a dozen protesters removed from the park were chained to each other and to trees. Emergency services officers used portable power saws to sever the chains.
NYPD surrounded Zuccotti Park with officers in riot gear and broadcast by bullhorn the order for protesters to vacate the park, which was soon lit up with flood lights. Reports indicated police said they would arrest anyone who refused the order to leave.
Police were seen pouring into the scene from all directions and sealing off the park. Officers backed by additional vans drove protesters north up Broadway away from the park.
In one instance there was a scuffle with police, and one person was arrested after some objects were thrown.
At least two brief violent clashes were reported north of Zuccotti Park, while two arrest wagons were filled with protesters at Broadway, about two blocks north of the park.
At the park, the tents, street furniture and any possessions protesters refused to move were dismantled and tossed into dumpsters and open-topped city garbage trucks. Workers moved in with steam cleaners and other equipment to clean the park.
A number of downtown New York street corners were packed with protesters standing chest to chest with helmeted police armed with batons.
New York City Police Commissioner Ray Kelly and Chief of Department of the NYPD Joe Esposito were on the scene supervising police, while hundreds of officers began to gather north of the park in lines, ready to march downtown.
By 2:30 a.m. only a handful of protesters remained in the park, although hundreds were gathered in pockets nearby. Protesters who vacated Zuccotti Park marched up to Foley Square, approximately 10 blocks north of City Hall. That group was soon forced north by police and broken up into scattered groups that were effectively dispersed.
A flyer that was handed out to protesters read: “The city has determined that the continued occupation of Zuccotti Park poses an increasing health and fire safety hazard to those camped in the park, the city’s first responders, and to the surrounding community.
“You are required to immediately remove all property, including tents, sleeping bags and tarps from Zuccotti Park. That means you must remove the property now.”
The flyer indicated that protesters would be allowed into the park “after a few hours” when the park has been cleaned, but they “will not be permitted to bring tents, sleeping bags, tarps and similar materials.”
The following tweet appeared at approximately 1:20 a.m. ET on the NYCMayorsOffice Twitter feed, which is the official Twitter of the administration of Mayor Michael Bloomberg: “Occupants of Zuccotti should temporarily leave and remove tents and tarps. Protestors can return after the Park is cleared. #ows”
“From the beginning, I have said that the City had two principal goals: guaranteeing public health and safety, and guaranteeing the protesters’ First Amendment rights. But when those two goals clash, the health and safety of the public and our first responders must be the priority,” the statement from Mayor Bloomberg read.
“That is why, several weeks ago the City acted to remove generators and fuel that posed a fire hazard from the park … We have been in constant contact with Brookfield and yesterday they requested that the City assist it in enforcing the no sleeping and camping rules in the park. But make no mistake — the final decision to act was mine,” Bloomberg said.
The Occupy Wall Street movement issued a statement an hour after the police action at Zuccotti Park began.
“Supporters and allies are mobilizing throughout the city, presently converging at Foley Square. Supporters are also planning public actions for the coming days, including occupation actions,” the statement said.
The Occupy Wall Street protesters had reportedly planned to cause a massive disruption in traffic on the streets of lower Manhattan Tuesday in an attempt to delay the opening of the New York Stock Exchange.

Bloomberg will support the creation of five hours of financial and economic news programming throughout the day on the channel, called Alarab, the prince said in an emailed statement. Alwaleed said Alarab will "focus editorially on the important shifts taking place across the Arab world, with an emphasis on freedom of speech and freedom of press." As Crime Skyrockets in NYC, Bloomberg Focuses on Gun Control ... in Virginia
Hey wasn't the Holocaust nice? would of been nice if the Jews were for gun rights... then they might of had a chance. yeah that's right... they don't teach this in schools because it is offensive to Mommy and Daddy Socialist Yenta Jews, but the fact is that most of us were dumb asses and thought the state would protect us.
(Jammie wearing fool) With the NYPD tied up babysitting the Wall Street "occupiers" and crime spiraling out of control, the pipsqueak mayor of New York has decided to focus on the issue most important to New Yorkers. Gun control in Virginia. Is this guy for real?
"He's an arrogant bastard who shouldn't be meddling."
(image: Colossus of New York (1958))
It might be better if Bloomberg focused on rapist control in Zuccotti Park. One Virginia resident summed it up nicely.Mayor Bloomberg is crossing state lines - and opening his wallet - in his latest salvo in his war to keep guns off city streets.
Bloomberg has donated $25,000 apiece to the campaigns of six Democratic candidates for the Virginia state Senate who share his strict beliefs on gun control, officials told the Daily News Friday.
The deep-pocketed mayor, who drew the ire of the Virginia attorney general when he ran gun stings there five years ago, will travel to Old Dominion to campaign for the candidates next week, the officials said.

No Adults without a Child. When is this city ordinance crap going to stop?
This tragic story is another illustration of another draconian regulation out of the deluge descending on the good citizens of New York City. via simplyjews.blogspot.comSelective enforcement is not Constitutional. If a city ordinance is prosecuted arbitrarily then it is not a law. same goes for cops who let little old ladies go who let their little lap dog off the leash and then turn around and arrest a fellow with a pit bull off leash.
the only children who benefit are the spawn of green technology executives

Al Jazeera's shill to U.S. audience by Pres. Bollinger of Columbia U. AKA Washington Post AKA chair Fed Bank

Columbia Univ. President Lee C. Bollinger (a member of the Pulitzer Prize board) awarding Samantha Powers her trophy Pulitzer ![]() |
Lee Bollinger, Columbia University's $1,753,984-a-year president who also serves as chairman of the board of the Federal Reserve Bank of New York, has an article in Bloomberg Businessweek arguing that the Federal Communications Commission should force cable companies to carry Al Jazeera. He describes access to the channel as "critically valuable" to "our democracy" and to "America's understanding of the world."This is ridiculous. Anyone who wants to see what Al Jazeera English has on offer can easily visit its Web site. One can find an article by an American responding to the recent murder of Israeli children by writing that "Netanyahu has never condemned or even expressed remorse over the killing of 300 plus Palestinian children by the IDF during the Gaza war. (In fact, one would be hard pressed to find any Israeli government that ever even criticised the killing of Palestinian children by the IDF, although many hundreds have been killed over the last decade)." One can find an article by a Columbia professor asserting that "a 'manly' and 'straight' heteronormativity was manufactured for 'Arabs'" and calling for humans to transcend "obscene class divisions."
There's no disclosure at all to Bloomberg Businessweek readers that Mr. Bollinger and Columbia have some substantial ties to the al Thani family that owns both the country of Qatar and Al Jazeera. A Columbia art exhibit Web site acknowledges the support of "The Arab Museum of Modern Art, Qatar and the Qatar Foundation, Her Excellency Sheikha al Mayassa bint Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, and His Excellency Sheikh Hassan bin Mohammed bin Ali Al Thani." ABC News reported "the Qatari princess went to college at Duke University in North Carolina and is now pursuing a masters at Columbia University in New York." Mr. Bollinger has shown no hesitation in the past when it comes to accepting donations from undemocratic or unfree Arab countries; Columbia took money from the United Arab Emirates that Harvard refused to accept. If Americans are looking for an Al Jazeera-type perspective they don't even need the American government to force Al Jazeera onto their cable television; they can just go enroll in Columbia's Middle East studies department, at least one of whose professors Mayor Bloomberg's own administration has adjudged unworthy of training New York City public school teachers.
The whole column is an embarrassment to both Mr. Bollinger (who is apparently difficult to embarrass) and Businessweek. It's not clear what is so special about Al Jazeera that it deserves to be forced by the U.S. government onto American televisions. Does Mr. Bollinger want every foreign television channel whose owner is a major Columbia donor or potential one to be forced by the American government onto American television?
Mr. Bollinger is a paid director of the Washington Post Company, which owns a cable television company that serves 720,000 customers in 19 states. If he thinks it's so vitally important to American democracy for all Americans to watch Al Jazeera, let him speak up at the next Post board meeting and earn his directors fees by forcing Al Jazeera into the cable package of all of his own company's customers, rather than asking the government to impose the channel on the rest of us.

Michael Moore Says We Aren't In Debt. For a WHILE THERE I THOUGHT WE WERE IN DEBT 15 TRILLION
Wealth belongs not to those who create it, not to those who own it, but to The People, to be distributed as corrupt, power-drunk bureaucrats see fit. Take it from one of liberalism’s most influential mouthpieces, Michael Moore:Really Rich Michael Moore Says All Wealthy Americans’ Money is Not Theirs It’s ‘Ours’
As for the mountain of money Moore has amassed with his anti-American propaganda films, that is not a national resource — it’s his.
On tips from Milton and BURNING HOT. Hat tips: The Blaze, Michelle Malkin via Moonbattery
Sultan Knish explains reality:
The Threat of Government Power
The top 10 wealthiest men and women in America barely have 250 billion dollars between them. That sounds like a lot of money, until you look at annual Federal budgets which run into the trillions of dollars, and the country’s national debt which approaches 15 trillion dollars. And that’s not taking into account state budgets. Even Rhode Island, the smallest state in the union, with a population of barely a million, has a multi-billion dollar budget.
As the 10th richest man in America, Michael Bloomberg wields a personal fortune of a mere 18 billion dollars, but as the Mayor of the City of New York, he disposes of an annual budget of 63 billion dollars. In a single year, he disposes of three times his own net worth. A sum that would wipe out the net worth of any billionaire in America. That is the difference between the wealth wielded by the 10th wealthiest man in America, and the mayor of a single city. And that is the real concentration of wealth. Not in the hands of individuals, but at every level of government, from the municipal to the state houses to the White House. (Read it all, here)

The Mayor’s office indicated it would supply the information in 20 days and failed to do so.“Mayor Bloomberg’s support for the Ground Zero mosque needs to be fully explored. New Yorkers are going to want to know how closely he’s working with the radicals supporting the Ground Zero mosque,” said Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton. “It is troubling that the Mayor’s office cannot be bothered to comply with the open records law. What is the Mayor’s office hiding?”Judicial Watch is asking for:•All records of communication between the Office of the Mayor and Imam Feisal Abdul Rauf concerning the Cordoba Initiative’s proposed Cordoba House project.•All records of of communication between the Office of Mayor Bloomberg and any of the following entities1. Council of American-Islamic Relations (CAIR);2. Islamic Society of North America (ISNA);3. International Institute of Islamic Thought (IIIT);4. American Society for Muslim Advancement (ASTHMA);5. American Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee (ADC);6. Muslim Public Affairs Council (MPAC).
