(Islam versusEurope) Mohammed caricatures aren't new. This one dates from 1141-1143. Depicting Mohammed with feathers on his body and the tail of a fish, it appeared in the first Latin edition of the Koran, the translation having been supervised by Peter the Venerable, abbot of Cluny.

The book exists in the collection of the National Library of France. This image was featured in an exhibition in 2005. No one seemed to be offended. Maybe Muslims aren't much for museum-going.

Islamists Threaten To Exterminate Egypt’s 10 Million Coptic Christians Over Film
(VladTepes) H/T EDL Buck: From the Inquisitor: Egypt’s 10 million Coptic Christians have been threatened with mass extermination by Islamists in retaliation for the rumored involvement of a Copt in the making of the anti-Islamic film, “Innocence of Muslims.” The film touched off rioting throughout the Muslim world, due to claims that it insulted Islam and the Prophet Muhammad, leading to attacks on several American Embassies, and the murder of the American Ambassador to Libya, J. Christopher Stevens.meanwhile we are arresting Copts in America for daring to exercise their right to express themselves in this genocide. Who cares if the guy was a porn director... who cares? I suppose the feminists and the Christian right who Obama thinks he can manipulate with the word PORN. So get this... they bring a Copt director in for questioning... supposedly cuz he was in danger and then let the goons in the media destroy the guy's reputation. Sound familiar? Sounds like a Seattle Special!
After the American flag was torn to shreds at the Cairo Embassy by the enraged mob, the crowds began to focus their anger on the Christian community. Islamist leaders and clerics have fueled their rage by telling the faithful at Friday prayers that the film was made by Copts living in America as part of a deliberate attack on the faith of Muslims. Calls have gone out for the collective punishment of all of Egypt’s Christians. Click to continue:
Vice president: Iran will pursue makers of anti-Islam film
(ynet)Iran's government will "track down" those responsible for making an amateurish film clip mocking the Prophet Mohammad, a senior official said, Iranianmedia reported on Monday.
The video made in California and posted on YouTube portrayed the Prophet Mohammad as a womanizer and a fool. It has ignited a week of violent protests across the Muslim world.

Iran's vice president says Teheran will 'search for, track down and pursue guilty person who has insulted 1.5 billion Muslims in the world'; officials demand apology from US over movie
"The government of the Islamic Republic of Iran condemns ... this inappropriate and offensive action," First Vice-President Mohammad Reza Rahimi said, according to the Mehr news agency.
"Certainly it will search for, track, and pursue this guilty person who ... has insulted 1.5 billion Muslims in the world," he said.
The Islamic Republic's founder, Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini, condemned to death the Indian-born British novelist Salman Rushdie in 1989 for his novel "The Satanic Verses," saying its depiction of the Prophet Mohammad was blasphemous.
Iranian officials have demanded that the United States apologize to Muslims for the movie, saying it is only the latest in a series of Western insults aimed at Islam's holy figures.
Rahimi did not give details on how Iran would pursue the makers of the film in his remarks, which the Iranian Students' News Agency said he had made at a cabinet meeting on Sunday.
The US ambassador to Libya, Christopher Stevens, and three other Americans were killed in Benghazi, Libya, last Tuesday and several other people have died in protests around the Muslim world against the video entitled "Innocence of Muslims."
The identity of those directly responsible for the film is still murky. Clips of the film posted online since July have been attributed to a man named Sam Bacile, which two people linked to the film have said was probably an alias.
Nakoula Basseley Nakoula, 55, a Coptic Christian widely linked to the film in media reports, was voluntarily questioned on Saturday by US authorities investigating possible violations of his probation for a bank fraud conviction.
An Iranian religious foundation said on Saturday it was increasing its reward for the killing of Rushdie, though he had nothing to do with the film, offering a total of $3.3 million for anyone who carried out Khomeini's death sentence.
update: Google rejects White House request to pull Mohammad film clip
From Reuters:
(Reuters) - Google Inc rejected a request by the White House on Friday to reconsider its decision to keep online a controversial YouTube movie clip that has ignited anti-American protests in the Middle East. The Internet company said it was censoring the video in India andIndonesia after blocking it on Wednesday in Egypt and Libya, where U.S. embassies have been stormed by protestors enraged over depiction of the Prophet Mohammad as a fraud and philanderer.
On Tuesday, the U.S. Ambassador to Libya and three other Americans were killed in a fiery siege on the embassy in Benghazi.
Google said was further restricting the clip to comply with local law rather than as a response to political pressure.
"We've restricted access to it in countries where it is illegal such as India and Indonesia, as well as in Libya and Egypt, given the very sensitive situations in these two countries," the company said. "This approach is entirely consistent with principles we first laid out in 2007."
Jonathan H. Adler • September 14, 2012 2:38 pmThe LA Times reports:
Administration officials have asked YouTube to review a controversial video that many blame for spurring a wave of anti-American violence in the Middle East.According to the story, YouTube reviewed the video earlier this week and concluded that it was “clearly within” the website’s guidelines.
The administration flagged the 14-minute “Innocence of Muslims” video and asked that YouTube evaluate it to determine whether it violates the site’s terms of service, officials said Thursday. The video, which has been viewed by nearly 1.7 million users, depicts Muhammad as a child molester, womanizer and murderer — and has been decried as blasphemous and Islamophobic.

Zionist Sex Slaves
Posted by Raymond
The seriousness of recent calls to legalize sex slave “marriages” in Egypt as a way to allow Muslim men to have premarital sex within the bounds of Sharia was recently demonstrated by the fact that many Islamic authorities—including Egypt’s Grand Muftiand the Grand Imam of Al Azhar—made it a point to condemn the practice as contrary to Islam.
Related:
- But it isn’t. Not at all: ”Prophet” Mohammed himself had lots of slaves too! And since he was the perfect man, uswa hasana, insan al kamil……..
While it is refreshing to see Islamic leaders reject this perverse call, it is typical to see others portraying it as a foreign conspiracy. For instance, after rejecting the notion of sex-slave marriages, Dr Muhammaad al-Mukhtar al-Mahdi, a professor of Islamic studies at Al Azhar, said “the crime is not that someone suggested it, but that someone made it easy for him to say and spread such things among the people,” adding that “this is a matter that international Zionism stands behind.”
- Muslim “Activist” Salwa Al-Mutairi Calls for Legalized Sex Slavery– (too strange: where did she get this crazy idea from? Ah, I get it: doesn’t the Koran teach that women are deficient in intelligence and in religion?)
In other words, Wael al-Ibrashi, the Egyptian liberal talk show host who first aired this matter, followed of course by the default bad guys, “international Zionism,” are the true “criminals”—not the self-proclaimed “expert” at Islamic jurisprudence who studied at Al Azhar and came up with this idea of sex-slave marriages in the first place (click here for original story).

New York imam begins campaign to make Mohammed’s birthday a national holiday in the US
Oh hell no!
(Queens) A Jackson Heights imam has started a campaign to make April 26, the birthday of the Prophet Mohammad, a national holiday.Money quote:
Mohd Qayyoom, head of the Muhammadi Community Center, at 37-46 72nd St., said he believes having a national celebration for the prophet’s birthday would enable the growing Muslim population in America to have an annual celebration and would foster a spirit of cooperation with those of other faiths. [...]
“We want one day, an annual holiday like Christmas,” he said.
While Qayyoom plans to formally announce his campaign April 22 at the second planned Interfaith Harmony and World Peace event in Jackson Heights, he said he is already starting it. He said he has contacted Jackson Heights’ elected officials and plans to reach out to leaders of other faiths.
“Everywhere I’m talking, they’re welcoming it,” Qayyoom said. [...]You're kidding, right?
Truth in Advertising
(gatesofvienna.blogspot.com) As reported in the live-blog earlier today, the high-court judge in Vienna actually quoted an authoritative hadith in the courtroom: “Muhammad’s wife Aisha entered the marriage at age 6, which was consummated at the age of 9.” He then acknowledged that the passage was already public knowledge, and thus repeating it could not be punishable under the law.I've had a similar issue dealing with the first Amendment in America. I got the right to post the truth on the web, but commenting was libel. This had nothing to do with a world ideology, but a person... but this is the way the present generation of judges are ruling. It's quite threatening to those who believe in free expression... sadly people are just not alarmed. This really has little to do with Mohammad and Islam and has more to do with liberal culture.
He upheld Elisabeth’s conviction, however, based on a somewhat peculiar interpretation of Austrian law: to say “Mohammed had a thing for little girls” is an “excess of opinion” that cannot be tolerated. It constitutes ridicule, and is not justifiable.
An interesting and useful corollary can be derived from today’s ruling: it is now completely legal to quote in public the authoritative hadith about Mohammed’s sex acts with a nine-year-old girl. A precedent was established today — at least in Austria.
The judge’s decision gave one of our Austrian contacts a brilliant idea: rent space on a billboard and blazon that (legally acceptable) statement in four-foot-high letters where everyone in Vienna can read it!
With that notion in mind, I took the liberty of placing the relevant virtual text on an existing billboard in the city of Vienna:
“Muhammad’s wife Aisha entered the marriage at age 6, which was consummated at the age of 9.”— Higher Court of Vienna, decision Dec 20, 2011
An image with the same text in German is below the jump:
„Mohammeds Frau Aischa wurde mit 6 Jahren verheiratet. Die Ehe wurde vollzogen, als sie 9 Jahre alt war.“ — Laut OLG Wien, Urteil vom 20.12.2011
Once again, bear this fact in mind: displaying these words is now completely legal in Austria.
The high court has ruled. It’s on the record. An Austrian can publicly utter, write, chant, print, sing, or declaim those sentences without fear of legal retribution.
This means that Austrians who have enough money and initiative can recover at least a small measure of their freedom of speech, and at the same time educate their fellow citizens about the authoritative teachings of Islam.
It’s truth in advertising.
The Dhimmi is Forbidden to Read the Koran
The Dhimmi is Forbidden to Read the Koran
If you are a student of Islam, then you might have gathered that Islam has a doctrine of eternal hatred of Kafirs and their civilization. A student of Islam might also gather that after a 1400 year history of hostilities, murder, rape and enslavement that Islam was at war with us. But, the White House, the Department of Justice, Homeland Security, FBI and CIA have informed us that this is not the case.
It started when Steve Emerson and Steve Coughlin were going to give talks about political Islam to the FBI and Homeland Security . Then the White House informed them that not only were they not going to talk about the Islamic doctrine and history of jihad, but that henceforth, no Kafir could talk to any Federal agencies, unless they were vetted by the Muslim Brotherhood. Now, Eric Holder, the Attorney General, has ordered a purge of all Department of Justice manuals and training of all material that will “offend” Muslims. "I recently directed all components of the Department of Justice to re-evaluate their training efforts,"Deputy Attorney General James Cole announced during the Washington conference. U.S. Attorney Dwight Holton explained that FBI training materials that even remotely link Islam to violence will be banned."I want to be perfectly clear about this: Training materials that portray Islam as a religion of violence or with a tendency towards violence are wrong, they are offensive and they are contrary to everything this president, this attorney general and Department of Justice stands for," he told Muslim activists gathered at the George Washington University law school. "They will not be tolerated."The president and the Department of Justice do not stand for critical thought, an examination of all sides of a problem. The White House wants to see that Muslims are never offended. Notice that the White House does not say that the Kafir analysts are wrong in their facts and data. Instead, they say that facts have no place at the table. Our government no longer stands for logical thought, but only wants to insure that Muslims are not offended by Kafirs. The way for Muslims to not be offended is for the Kafirs to keep silent. This is pure Islamic doctrine, Sharia law.
Let’s go back to the time of Umar II, a caliph of Islam. Under Sharia law, the Kafir is to be made completely harmless to Islam and there are two parts to this mental castration. Here are two of the many oppressive terms of the dhimmi (a dhimmi is a Kafir who agrees to obey Sharia law) treaty that deal with Kafir knowledge:The Pact of Umar, 9th Century CE, includes:We [Christians] will not teach our children the Koran. We will not make a show of the Christian religion nor invite any one to embrace it.Kafirs must not have knowledge of Islamic doctrine. Kafirs must not make their civilization attractive to Muslims. Kafirs must submit to Islam, not the other way around. This is why we are changing how our textbooks explain America because Muslims will read them. Islam must be praised and the West denigrated. You might wonder why they would not want Kafirs to read the Koran. After all wouldn’t they want the Kafir to read the wonderful Koran and become a Muslim? No, Islam wants for you to listen to a Muslim explain the Koran. A Koran reading Kafir might apply critical thought to the text and that would be a disaster. Only Muslims are allowed to know Mohammed and Allah under Sharia law.So, as good Kafirs, we must remain ignorant and submit to Islam. We can become Islamic, but we should never try to convert the Muslim to our civilization and Western religions. Submission only runs one direction. The Obama administration has invoked an ancient treaty, the Pact of Umar, and applied it to our nation. Our law enforcement agencies have now been made full dhimmis under Sharia law. Critical thought and knowledge of Islam have entered the first step of making any knowledge about Islam a hate crime that will be prosecuted to the full extent of a Fascist state. Now they deny truth. Next they will criminalize truth that offends Islam

Charlie Hebdo's publisher -- known only as Charb -- talks to reporters outside the …
The offices of a French satirical newspaper that published a special Arab Spring edition with the Prophet Mohammed as "guest editor" were destroyed in a suspected firebomb attack Wednesday, police said.
Charlie Hebdo published a special edition Wednesday to mark the Arab Spring, renaming the weekly newspaper Charia (Sharia) Hebdo for the occasion and featuring a front-page cartoon of the prophet saying: "100 lashes if you don't die of laughter!"
he newspaper's website also appeared to have been hacked on Wednesday, with its regular home page replaced with a photo of the Grand Mosque in Mecca and a message reading: "No god but Allah".Religion of peace? Tolerance? Religion that adheres to Western values? So...?
French officials were quick to denounce the attack and offer support to the newspaper.
"Freedom of the press is a sacred freedom in our country and everything must be done to preserve it," Interior Minister Claude Gueant told AFP.
"This is why, whether we like Charlie Hebdo or not, every French person must this morning feel solidarity with a newspaper that, through its existence and the way it operates, expresses freedom of the press."
Police said the fire at the newspaper's offices started around 1:00 am (0200 GMT). No one was injured in the blaze, which a police source said was suspected to have been caused by a petrol bomb.
The magazine's publisher, known only as Charb, said he was convinced the fire was linked to the special edition.
"On Twitter, on Facebook, we received several letters of protest, threats, insults," which had been forwarded to the police, he said.
"Our problem now is to be able to put a paper out next Wednesday," he said. "There is soot everywhere, the computers are in my opinion dead, the electrical system is melted."
"This is the first time we have been physically attacked, but we won't let it get to us."
In a statement, the newspaper's editorial department said it was "against all religious fundamentalism but not against practising Muslims."
"We are for the Arab Spring, against the winter of fanatics," it said.
The weekly had said it would publish a special edition to "celebrate" the Ennahda Islamist party's election victory in Tunisia and the transitional Libyan executive's announcement that Islamic Sharia law would be the country's main source of law.
It would feature the prophet Mohammed as guest "editor", the magazine said.
As well as the cover cartoon, a back-page drawing featured Mohammed wearing a red nose and accompanied by the words: "Yes, Islam is compatible with humour."
The depiction of the prophet's face is strictly prohibited in Islam.
Charb on Tuesday rejected accusations that he was trying to provoke.
"We feel we're just doing our job as usual. The only difference is that this week, Mohammed is on the cover and that's quite rare," he told AFP.
A Paris court in 2007 threw out a suit brought by two Muslim organisations against Charlie Hebdo for reprinting cartoons of Mohammed that had appeared in a Danish newspaper, sparking angry protests by Muslims worldwide.
Pieces of paper and computers were strewn outside the newspaper's offices in eastern Paris after the fire, an AFP reporter said, and windows and glass doors were broken at street level and on the first floor.
The head of the French Council of the Muslim Faith, Mohammed Moussaoui, condemned the attack.
"If this was a criminal fire, we firmly condemn it," he told AFP.
Paris Mayor Bertrand Delanoe said he was "disgusted" with the attack.
"I want to condemn in the strongest possible terms this act of violence that is also an act of violence against freedom of expression," he told RMC radio.
"We can disagree with Charlie Hebdo's edition today but we are in a society that needs freedom of expression," Delanoe said.
The managing editor of left-leaning newspaper Liberation, Nicolas Demorand, said in a Tweet that his newspaper was inviting Charlie Hebdo's writers to work in Liberation's offices until they could find a new home.

Paedophile Prophet Mohammed returns to the Metropolitan Museum of Art
The Metropolitan is no longer a ‘non-prophet’ institution.(NYPOST/BareNakedIslam) After at least an eight-year absence, images of Mohammed will return to the Metropolitan Museum of Art as the renovated Islamic galleries reopen in November. The controversial depictions have not been seen in years, and there was some doubt about whether they would resurface when a $50 million renovation of the gallery space is completed. Most Muslims object to any images of the prophet, saying that their religion forbids showing renderings of Islam’s founder. “Islamic Sharia law doesn’t allow his image,” said Chernor Sa’ad Jalloh, an assistant imam at the Islamic Cultural Center in Manhattan. “Even in Islamic museums they don’t allow this.”
But a Met spokesman said the display is a matter of art, not religion. (HA HA. Tell that to the muslims when they start bombing your building)
“We have tried to be up-front and frank about our plans with members of the Muslim-American community,” said Harold Holzer. “We have not asked for guidance.”
The museum invited New York Muslim groups on an advance tour of the new 19,000-square-foot space on the second floor, and reached out to dozens of Islamic art scholars during the renovation.
The Met is widely considered to have one of the world’s most important collections of Islamic art, spanning 13 centuries. The renovation has added 5,000 square feet of exhibition space and includes the recreation of a Moorish courtyard. Experts spent three years restoring a 16th-century rug that once belonged to Russian royalty.
Holzer refused to say whether the Met had made special security arrangements for the opening of the awkwardly named “Galleries for the Art of the Arab Lands, Turkey, Iran, Central Asia and Later South Asia.” The name was changed from “Islamic Galleries.”
The Met has five images of the prophet in its 60,000-piece collection of Islamic art. Curators plan to display only two at a time because they are delicate and cannot be exposed to light for long.

Mubarak Deceived Israel as Muhammad Deceived Infidels?
In
light of ousted president Hosni Mubarak's ongoing trial, Western
readers may be surprised to learn who some of Mubarak's staunchest
defenders are: Salafi Muslims, that is, those Muslims who practice the
7th century Islam of Muhammad, often referred to as "radicals."
Sheikh Mahmoud Amer, leader of Ansar al-Sunna in Damanhur, recently
appeared on the Egyptian news program Life Today arguing that, according
to Sharia, it is illegal to try Mubarak, whose dealings with
Israel—specifically the charge that he sold gas to it at cheap
rates—were similar to prophet Muhammad's dealing with infidel enemies. I
translate the most relevant excerpt: He
[Hosni Mubarak] was the imam [Muslim leader]; all his actions have their
circumstances. Regarding this gas issue you're talking about, whoever
said that exporting gas to enemy combatants, Jews or otherwise, is
impermissible? Who among the Muslim jurists [fuqaha] said this? The
prophet himself died while his armor was held by a Jew [an infidel
enemy] as collateral; and in the Battle of the Trench [627], the prophet
negotiated with one of the polytheist tribes [enemies] to give them
dates, Medina's main source of income, just so they would quit the
war—because "war is deceit"; he negotiated for this purpose . Nor did
divine inspiration [Allah] come down to censure him for his actions, had
such actions violated Sharia. So, show me one jurist saying that it is
impermissible to deal with enemy combatants—I do not say treaty-holders,
as there is a treaty between us and the Jews, but I posit that between
us and the Jews is war. So who among the classic jurists said that it is
impermissible to deal with combatants, buying and selling? Here are the
books of jurisprudence… I say the prophet negotiated with the
polytheists to give them free dates just to keep their strength at bay
at that time [as opposed to Mubarak, who only sold gas cheaply, Muhammad
went one step further giving things for free]. So these are political
and military matters, and the authority is free to pick whichever he
deems most appropriate.
Along with stressing Muhammad's attempt to appease Islam's infidel
enemies with gifts when the latter were stronger than the Muslims, the
sheikh also stressed that Mubarak was the "sultan"—an Arabic-Islamic
term of special significance, conveying a certain form of sovereign
political and temporal authority in Islam, complete with dispensations
unavailable to the average Muslim.
Nor are these arcane notions; al-Qaeda itself has stressed these exact points. When discussing the permissibility for Muslims to deceive infidels, the late Osama bin Laden often alluded to Muhammad's attempt to appease the infidel tribe; and Ayman Zawahiri, al-Qaeda's new leader, quotes Islam's jurists as "unanimously agreeing" that "it is forbidden to overthrow" Muslim rulers, even if they are "cruel and despotic" yet "it is obligatory to wage jihad against" Muslim rulers found to be "apostate infidels" (The Al Qaeda Reader, pgs. 26-27, 121-122, 129 ).
The non-hijabbed, Westernized looking female host, somewhat flustered, retorted: "Excuse me sheikh, but this issue of comparing the actions of our blessed prophet and a former president, I mean, forgive me, but maybe one can't speak on or judge between similar circumstances."
Then Montaser al-Zayyat, an Islamist lawyer who regularly represents jihadists—including, formerly, Zawahiri—chimed in saying he too "found it hard listening to the sheikh," insisting that Mubarak should be condemned for selling gas to "the Zionists, for this is a betrayal of the [Egyptian] people."
Eventually, the debate descended into the usual shouting and yelling, with the sheikh boasting that at least Mubarak was a hero in Egypt's 1973 war with Israel, and asking the hostess and Zayyat, "Where were you on October 6, 1973?... Did you ever shoot a single bullet at a Jew?!"
This leads to the most telling aspect of this whole anecdote: while the two Muslim experts on Sharia argued over many things, there was no disagreement over two points—enmity for Israel and Jews, and the permissibility of using deceit to undermine them.

Are Judaism and Christianity as Violent as Islam?
The military conquest of the land of Canaan by the Hebrews in about 1200 B.C.E. is often characterized as “genocide” and has all but become emblematic of biblical violence and intolerance. God told Moses:
But of the cities of these peoples which the Lord your God gives you as an inheritance, you shall let nothing that breathes remain alive, but you shall utterly destroy them — the Hittite, Amorite, Canaanite, Perizzite, Hivite, and Jebusite — just as the Lord your God has commanded you, lest they teach you to do according to all their abominations which they have done for their gods, and you sin against the Lord your God. So Joshua [Moses' successor] conquered all the land: the mountain country and the South and the lowland and the wilderness slopes, and all their kings; he left none remaining, but utterly destroyed all that breathed, as the Lord, God of Israel had commanded.
...God clearly ordered the Hebrews to annihilate the Canaanites and surrounding peoples. Such violence is therefore an expression of God's will, for good or ill. Regardless, all the historic violence committed by the Hebrews and recorded in the Old Testament is just that—history. It happened; God commanded it. But it revolved around a specific time and place and was directed against a specific people. At no time did such violence go on to become standardized or codified into Jewish law. In short, biblical accounts of violence are descriptive, not prescriptive.
This is where Islamic violence is unique. Though similar to the violence of the Old Testament—commanded by God and manifested in history—certain aspects of Islamic violence and intolerance have become standardized in Islamic law and apply at all times. Thus, while the violence found in the Qur'an has a historical context, its ultimate significance is theological. Consider the following Qur'anic verses, better known as the "sword-verses":
Then, when the sacred months are drawn away, slay the idolaters wherever you find them, and take them, and confine them, and lie in wait for them at every place of ambush. But if they repent, and perform the prayer, and pay the alms, then let them go their way.
Fight those who believe not in God and the Last Day, and do not forbid what God and His Messenger have forbidden – such men as practise not the religion of truth, being of those who have been given the Book – until they pay the tribute out of hand and have been humbled.

Muslim Woman Seeks to Revive Institution of Sex-Slavery
Last week witnessed popular Muslim preacher Abu Ishaq al-Huwaini boast about how Islam allows Muslims to buy and sell conquered infidel women, so that "When I want a sex-slave, I go to the market and pick whichever female I desire and buy her."
This week's depraved anachronism comes from a Muslim woman—Salwa al-Mutairi, a political activist and former parliamentary candidate for Kuwait's government, no less: She, too, seeks to "revive the institution of sex-slavery."
A brief English report appeared over the weekend in the Kuwait Times (nothing, of course, in the MSM):
Mutairi: "In the Chechnyan war, surely there are female Russian captives. So go and buy those and sell them here in Kuwait; better that than have our men engage in forbidden sexual relations."Muslim men who fear being seduced or tempted into immoral behavior by the beauty of their female servants, or even of those servants "casting spells" on them, would be better to purchase women from an "enslaved maid" agency for sexual purposes. She [Mutairi] suggested that special offices could be set up to provide concubines in the same way as domestic staff recruitment agencies currently provide housemaids. "We want our youth to be protected from adultery," said al-Mutairi, suggesting that these maids could be brought as prisoners of war in war-stricken nations like Chechnya to be sold on later to devout merchants. The Arabic news website, Al Arabiya, has the sordid details, including a video of Mutairi addressing this topic. I summarize and translate various excerpts below (note: I am not making any of this up):
The Kuwaiti female activist begins by insisting that "it's of course true" that "the prophet of Islam legitimized sex-slavery." She recounts how when she was in Mecca, Islam's holiest city, she asked various sheikhs and muftis (learned, authoritative Muslims) about the legality of sex-slavery according to Sharia: they all confirmed it to be perfectly legal; Kuwaiti ulema further pointed out that extra "virile" men—Western synonymous include "sex-crazed," "lecherous," "perverted"—would do well to purchase sex-slaves to sate their appetites without sinning.
Here's a particularly interesting excerpt from her taped speech on the rules governing sex-slaves:
A Muslim state must [first] attack a Christian state—sorry, I mean any non-Muslim state—and they [the women, the future sex-slaves] must be captives of the raid. Is this forbidden? Not at all; according to Islam, sex slaves are not at all forbidden. Quite the contrary, the rules regulating sex-slaves differ from those for free women [i.e., Muslim women]: the latter's body must be covered entirely, except for her face and hands, whereas the sex-slave is kept naked from the bellybutton on up—she is different from the free woman; the free woman has to be married properly to her husband, but the sex-slave—he just buys her and that's that. She went on to offer concrete suggestions: "For example, in the Chechnyan war, surely there are female Russian captives. So go and buy those and sell them here in Kuwait; better that than have our men engage in forbidden sexual relations. I don't see any problem in this, no problem at all."
Mutairi suggests the enslaved girls be at least 15 years-old.
She further justified the institution of sex-slavery by evoking 8th century caliph, Harun Rashid—a name some may recall from Arabian Nights bedtime stories; a name some may be surprised to discover politically active Muslims modeling their lives after:
"And the greatest example we have is Harun al-Rashid: when he died, he had 2,000 sex slaves—so it's okay, nothing wrong with it."
Mutairi's rationale is ultimately guided by a sense of efficiency, a desire for the good of society: legalizing sex-slaves helps prevent Muslim men from transgressing Allah's laws (as we have seen, extramarital relations with fellow Muslim women is strictly forbidden, but not with infidel sex-slaves, since they are scarcely considered human). Thus, the institution of sex-slavery provides a convenient, Sharia-compliant way of satiating the libidinous urges of Muslim men.
Harun Rashid: Inspiration for Disney characters in the West, pious role model in the Middle East.
The Kuwaiti activist's blunt approach has universal parallels. For example, in the West, some seek to legalize marijuana, arguing that, since people use it anyway, let it be made compliant with the law. In the Muslim world, some seek to legalize sex-slavery, arguing that, since Muslim men will use women anyway, let it be made compliant with Sharia law.
Such are the inevitable differences between the Western mindset (based on reason and universal rights) and the Sharia mindset (based on the life of a 7th century Arabian caravan-raider and slave-trader).
Mutairi concluded by piously supplicating Allah: "Oh I truly wish this for Kuwait, Allah willing—Oh Lord, Lord, you are bountiful…"
While she waits, Mutairi can take solace in the fact that, if sex-slavery is not institutionalized in Kuwait, it thrives underground throughout the Muslim world, where non-Muslim girls—mostly Christians—are routinely abducted, enslaved, and forced into lives of unspeakable degradation.
After all, just because a practice is not formally institutionalized does not mean that those who deem it their divine right are not practicing it.

Ayesha developed a serious illness after Mohammed married her. "I caught fever. My hair fell off, and I became clean-headed." http://www.investigateislam.com/prophetic_attitude_towards_fair.htm Author's note: Perhaps this illness is why Ayesha never had children by Mohammed. Perhaps the disease Mohammed gave Ayesha made her sterile.
Chapter 8, Verse 41 of the Koran "of all the loot you seize from non-Moslems, 20% belongs to Mohammed." (Loot included sex slaves. Also, in correct chronological order, this is actually the 95th chapter.)
Chapter 33, Verse 50 of The Koran: “we have made it legal … for you to take as wives ... those women whom your right hand possesses … whom Allah has given you as booty.” (The terrible words: "women whom your right hand possesses," are Moslem code words for kidnapped female sex slaves. Also, in correct chronological order, this is actually the 100th chapter.)

Facebook page calls for beating Saudi women drivers
If we created a facebook page like this for Americans do you think they would allow it? I'm guessing Sheryl Sandberg would enact a double standard that we have come to expect.
A campaign has been launched on Facebook calling for men to beat Saudi women who drive their cars in a planned protest next month against the ultra-conservative kingdom's ban on women taking the wheel. The call comes as activists are demanding the release of Manal al-Sharif, a Saudi woman who was jailed for defying the ban.
The page, titled "The Iqal Campaign: June 17 for preventing women from driving," refers to the Arabic name for the cord used to hold on the traditional headdress worn by many men in the Gulf, advocating the cord be used to hit women who dare to drive.
It has drawn over 6,000 "likes" on the popular social networking website.
Some on the page proposed distributing boxes of Iqals to youths and encouraging them use them to hit women who participate in the June 17 protest.
One joked about the price of Iqals going up due to men buying them before the protest. via news.yahoo.com

So polygyny increases competitive pressure on men, especially young men of low status. It therefore increases the likelihood that young men resort to violent means to gain access to mates. By doing so, they have little to lose and much to gain compared with men who already have wives. Across all societies, polygyny makes men violent, increasing crimes such as murder and rape, even after controlling for such obvious factors as economic development, economic inequality, population density, the level of democracy, and political factors in the region. - Psychology Today By Alan S. Miller, Ph.D
I don't buy the theory that sex is the isolated factor here.
Let's see what the old coot was into. Simon's right; it would probably be of considerable psychological interest. As Simon notes, by the way: "According to one report: 'The discovery of pornography taken during raids on Islamic militants is not uncommon, officials told Reuters.'”

The Next Bin Laden
Zawahiri betrayed Osama bin Laden: Saudi paper..."We firmly recognize that the umma [nation]of Muhammad is a nation whose destiny is independent of its leaders, no matter how great," said American-born al-Shabaab commander Omar Hammami about the death of Osama bin Laden. For terrorists like Hammami, ending the life of bin Laden hasn't ended the jihad against America. His statements match the mantra echoing across jihadi forums, as branches of al-Qaida and its allies pledge new terror attacks. Although bin Laden may be dead, the jihad lives on
Putting aside the rhetoric, al-Qaida is not an anarchist group, despite the loose connection between its regional branches. As long as al-Qaida lacks a clear central leader, it risks being lost in unending attacks without reason. That's contrary to the group's desire to establish a new Caliphate or at least oust the West from Muslim lands.
Rule by al-Qaida's Shura Council, the consultative body of the Pakistani/Afghani branch, remains a strong possibility in the short term. But in the long term, jihadi groups will look to a single leader or emir, to set policy and direct the organization. If that doesn't happen, the scattered al-Qaida branches that we know today will have little to unify them.
Bin Laden's second in command, Ayman al-Zawahiri, is widely considered the best positioned to seize the reins. However, U.S. intelligence estimates see him as an unpopular leader who lacks the charisma of bin Laden. "Zawahiri is obviously the presumed successor, but there are strong indications that he is not popular within certain circles of the group," the Washington Post quoted an unnamed senior intelligence figure as saying. "It is, of course, anathema to al-Qaida to hold free and fair elections. If free and fair elections [were conducted], Zawahiri would most likely have a fight on his hands."
Alongside Zawahiri are a cast of other characters. The biographies below point to the most likely candidates, those with the reach and ideology to reunite the organization around a central figure:
Ayman al-Zawahiri
Osama bin Laden's longtime deputy, Ayman al-Zawahiri is the most likely candidate to take over al-Qaida, despite his reported unpopularity. Since the beginning, Zawahiri has been an important ideological force in al-Qaida, releasing regular internet videos espousing the organization's mission. He also played a key role in refocusing al-Qaida's efforts away from Saudi Arabia and Afghanistan and towards the "far enemy," the Americans and the Jews.
Zawahiri's jihadist roots trace back to Egypt where he was a founding member of the Egyptian Islamic Jihad (EIJ), a radical group committed to overthrowing Egypt's secular government. Zawahiri developed a close relationship with bin Laden during the Soviet-Afghan war and, in 1998, he officially merged EIJ with al-Qaida. In his capacity as second-in-command of al-Qaida, Zawahiri, officials say, was responsible for the planning of 9/11, the bombings of American embassies in Kenya and Tanzania in 1998, and the October 2000 bombing of the USS Cole in Yemen. The U.S. government has offered a reward of up to $25 million for information leading directly to Zawahiri's apprehension.
There is speculation that al-Qaida has not officially named Zawahiri as its new leader because of doubts surrounding his ability to lead as effectively as his predecessor. Zawahiri has a history "of alienating his colleagues, fighting over dogma, even within the Islamist movement," said journalist Steve Coll, author of Ghost Wars and The Bin Ladens. "And as a communicator, he is less effective. His books are turgid and dogmatic." Zawahiri also is said to lack the charisma and appeal that bin Laden possessed, and is seen as a "divisive" figure within al-Qaida's ranks.
Nevertheless, the Islamic State of Iraq (formerly al-Qaida in Iraq) has already pledged its allegiance to Zawahiri, and a former EIJ member, Tawfiq Hamid, warned against underestimating the probable new leader. "He's much more powerful as a leader – much more organized," Hamid said. "When you listen to him, you can tell clearly that he has the ambition and is dedicated 100 percent to achieve this mission."
Touted as "as the most effective, dangerous and successful guerrilla leader in the world" by intelligence agencies, Pakistani terrorist Ilyas Kashmiri heads the 313 Brigade, the military wing of al-Qaida in Pakistan. He is suspected of involvement in a number of high-profile terrorist attacks including: the 2008 Mumbai terror attacks that resulted in the deaths of 166 people at Mumbai's train station, the Taj Mahal Hotel, and a Jewish center; and a suicide bomb attack on a top secret CIA base in the eastern Afghan province of Khost in December 2009 that killed at least eight Americans. He is also believed to have been the mastermind of a plot to attack the offices of the Danish newspaper Jyllands-Posten in retaliation for the newspaper publishing a cartoon of the Prophet Mohammad in 2005, and a 2010 plot for a series of "Mumbai-style" attacks in European cities.
Kashmiri has been named for his role in the 2008 Mumbai attacks in the terrorism indictment of David Coleman Headley. Court documents contain hints of connections between Kashmiri and al-Qaida and of Kashmiri's desire to launch additional mass casualty terrorist attacks. In his first-ever interview with Asia Times in 2009, Kashmiri voiced his support for al-Qaida's war against the United States and the West, and warned that the 2008 Mumbai attack "was nothing compared to what has already been planned for the future." Kashmiri directs attacks in South Asia, while simultaneously assisting in plots against the West.
In the wake of bin Laden's death, Kashmiri "will probably be the operational mastermind and most dangerous," said former CIA officer Bruce Riedel. Kashmiri is considered a dark horse to replace bin Laden because of Zawahiri's unpopularity. However, according to U.S. government sources, Kashmiri may not even seek al-Qaida's leadership. Until now, Kashmiri has acted as more of a behind-the-scenes military commander and has had minimal media exposure. He has also played a small role as an influential ideologue or recruiter.
Born in Yemen, but living much of his life in America, Awlaki has been referred to as "the translator of jihad." He played an active role in over a dozen plots, including the Christmas Day Detroit flight bomb plot and the Fort Hood shootings. In addition, Awlaki's writings and speeches on jihad have influenced jihadi plots in the United States, Britain, Canada, and elsewhere.
Awlaki has a high public profile, especially in comparison to other al-Qaida leaders. He produced a series of popular, English-language recordings throughout his own radicalization process, which remained in circulation well after he embraced jihad. In addition, his blog, use of video conferencing, and email communications, made him the most accessible terrorist leader. This legacy has continued through Inspire magazine, an English-language publication that features Awlaki's latest statements, and keeps him in the jihadi public eye.
Although he is one the most active players in terrorism against Americans, Awlaki has little chance of succeeding bin Laden. His influence among English-speaking jihadists aside, Awlaki is not even the military or spiritual leader of his local branch of al-Qaida, al Qaida in the Arabian Peninsula (AQAP). His encouragement of lone wolf terrorism, which he states should be carried out in a would-be terrorist's home country, also differs from the top-down approach of al-Qaida in Pakistan and Afghanistan.
