(Times of Israel)....The Los Angeles Herald-Examiner reported that Weinberger was so incensed at Israel invading Lebanon he tried to create an incendiary incident. He sent an unmarked helicopter into the war zone filing no flight plan. An Israeli gunboat tracked it requesting it to identify itself and then two jets made two passes, When the chopper landed Israeli troops detained and searched the six personnel on board. This drew a diplomatic protest but this incident could have been a total disaster.
