I get a lot of requests on what defines a Jew. Theoretically a Jew could believe in Jesus as a Messiah, but not the "New Testament" in it's concrete form because it isn't evolving and under debate.

being gay is a choice. if you aren't hurting those around you then you didn't break the law. on the other hand from my perspective if a person acts differently then I have a right to figure them differently. problem is those that are open to those that are gay are often scapegoated themselves. I have always been supportive, but gay men don't want to be treated in the same manner as straight men. they have different needs. they might say otherwise, but I know to flatter more when I talk to a gay man. it is very hard to teach children not to hate if they can't have any expectations of behavior without being ostracized. it is the leftist culture that has made it worse for gay people as well. I don't ask that people not eat pork like I do. in the same respect more orthodox Jews then me tolerate my semi secularism. I respect the difference in gay people. I also respect other cultures and beliefs if they don't believe in killing Jews.

the root of western religion does not set up duality. Duality comes from Zoroaster and Iran. Talmudic thought does not work in binary. Duality is the root of science which comes from Cartesian thought and the idea of separation between mind and body.

Judea-Monotheism does not have an avatar of evil. Satan has some "folk stories", but his appearance in the old testament isn't clarified. the idea in Jewish thought is to get closer to g-d. Proximity is a relative concept. read the Talmud and check.

many argue that Christianity was a bastardization of Zoraoster, Hellenism and Judaism. angel wars and the concept of wars between dark angels and angels of light are ideas that developed out of Persia.

In fact there have been archeological finds of "Holy Scrolls" from the period of Persian influence on Judaic thought and they are full of all kinds of strange "Angel" wars. If you look at Zoroaster art you will see the parallel between their religion and what developed afterwards. The lost scrolls are not cannon today in either Judaism or Christianity, but you can clearly see the philosophical evolution after Zoroaster's influence. I'm not a person who believes in the stiffness in scripture, mostly because I have seen the evolution in thought. for me to see spirituality as binary is as pagan as worshipping something material like an idol. to believe a document is pure is to say it is a g-d itself and to do this is pagan. I am not literal with scripture and no learned Jew would be because to do so would be to glorify something that is material.

also the duality in buddhism is really not a duality at all. I don't claim to be of that philosophy, but that duality is symbiotic and dependent in each other. for me that is a bit systematic. eastern duality is really a more one like metaphor. too complicated for me. I don't apply math on my g-d.

there is no method

when I was a kid I hated wearing kippahs. people in the orthodox community felt it was a rejection of them. it was a rejection of a tradition that was not practical. fashion can be subverted. you could easily get a man to wear the fashion and say he is against Israel. I was right. I am amazed that years later so much of what I was dealing with when I was 5,6,7 or 8 years old still applies. the kids that bullied me at camp Ramah or at Solomon Schechter and called me "pig jew" because I was not raised kosher.... are a reaction to the bigotry of the outside world. I admit that I have full respect for Kosher laws within reason and today I don't eat pork for myriad of reasons, but these kids were teasing me because I reflected secularism. I was too young to understand that I was being bullied because I was an outsider. my parents were too naive even then to understand what kind of self hate was going on in the Jewish community. Irony is that I would become the "Conservative" defending the community they never understood as "Liberals". They just wanted me to be Jewish because they wanted to fill a moral obligation... little did I know that I would become a guardian of what I thought at the time bullied me as a child. The fashion and the obligation to ritual is not what makes us Jewish. I understood who g-d was. I understood who my community was. I understood that you have to fight and that moral absolutes like pacifism is not the answer. Today some of the extremists on the internet point to men who look like Hasidim and say that there are men who don't support Israel. I support Israel and it's people and I really resent the bureaucracy of my Jewish community experiences... it was their orthodoxy that allowed our ways to be co-opted. Judaica is not a fashion. I also resent the other polarity of Jewish thought that developed: feminism. There is no method... I have been oppressed by different extremes. I close my eyes and I know g-d has nothing to do with people's ritual and organization. I know that attacks to my spirit come from many directions.

I prefer my ribs with BBQ sauce. Most of twitter says I'm a misogynist.

Are JEWS a RACE?

I took a Jewish history classes at Carnegie Mellon University. I received a "C" for arguing this with a professor about this one issue, even though I did all my work creatively and efficiently. The professor was even a friend of my grandmothers (because of this I won’t use her name). She was wrong and she should not of graded me accordingly. Jewish history can be looked at from many different perspectives and it is unfortunate that CMU used this woman as a tool. It is not surprising to see Palestinian slants coming from Humanity and Arts departments at CMU these days. My teacher and other Jews like her set the precedent for future intolerance by refusing to budge on issues coming out of the Holocaust.  The goal of the Jewish people as is the Christian people is a worldwide Zion.  The juxtaposition of how this Zion occurs is a matter of contention, but both faiths believe in the accession of a greater global government called Israel.  The people who started this movement were called Jews.  They are in fact closely related to each other and are debatably a "RACE".  Christians maintain that this government will come with the acceptance of they’re leader, and therefor Christians are a part of this same Zion.  Jews believe that they’re future leader will come and some like myself believe that the scripture is misleading and that while there will be key leaders, that this Zion will come through the actions of people and the details of the messiah will be unknown till it is known and obvious. Regardless of the slant on Zion, the end conclusion of Zionism is a belief in key people who are of close genetic relation and the people’s they friend.  Converts of Judaism become not only part of a philosophy, but part of the physical "People" in that the hope is that they’re blood will mingle into a Jewish gene pool.   It is also part of Christian theology... a concept of the Christian people and Republic, with the Juxtaposition that Israel will become part of this Christian Zionist Republic.  This is not Fascism, nor  is it bigotry.  The very reason both cultures have a process of conversion is to keep the people from being elitist and therefor racist.  The State of Israel is not the final Zion.  The modern state of Israel is a defense to keep the people alive to embrace the coming evolution.  It is in fact a necessary compromise, because the next evolution of Israel will be global.  It is very possible that the people of Israel might might be destroyed and the people executed and that a new genetic group with the same philosophy could rise from the ashes and become the new Israel. (however I feel like I am making some kind of Hollywood movie when I talk like this)

Racism itself is a term that developed recently.  Race generally concerns the color of a person’s skin.  It is a silly term.  The Jewish concept of RACE is a more beautiful embrace of difference then the silly dynamic of BLACK, WHITE, BROWN, RED, YELLOW, in that the Jewish concept of RACE is inclusive.  That is not to say there aren’t some horrible exceptions to this and perhaps that is why ZION has not arrived yet.  My best friend is a Yemenite Jew.  He looks like the people of KUSH culture.  His skin is dark and I would have no issue mingling so to speak genetically with some of his beautiful dark skinned relatives.  I would have no issue with any of my family having dark skinned children, and in fact I do have dark skinned relatives on my mother’s side.

lucky for me I am well read and educated... I actually gave an intelligent answer... but the simple fact of the matter is if someone insists on knowing if JEWS are a religion or a culture/religion... it is neither and it is both.
It can be one thing for one person and another for another.
language insists on declaring JEWS as not a RACE because of Hitler... but that is incorrect, because the vast majority of us are related.... or as related as say BLACK people are who mix as well.... point being is that RACE is a human construct, designed to help us deal with generalities that are real. That doesn’t always mean we can define things uniformly.

intolerance comes from not being able to objectify people. Intolerance comes from finding something out of a classification that one is used to. This guy with all his arrogance was a classic BIGOT. I am amazed the people on TWITTER let this happen. Like a line in the sand as in UN 242, classifying is designed to help, but it is not a classification that is beyond exception. I understand how frustrating it can be for people to not have things uniform and convenient, but human relations and also language evolves and defies this kind of determined bias.

People like things to stay the same... but they don’t. The classification of what we consider to be BLACK or WHITE, Jew or Gentile will evolve. Most of what we have dealt with over the last century is a reflection of HITLER’s convenient classification of an enemy, but that does not mean that most JEWS are not genetically related to each other. To call some one a RACIST for hating JEWS is fair game... and that classification can change as well.
