The website of the church that plans to burn a Koran on Saturday to commemorate 9/11 was removed from the internet after its hosting service said the site violated its terms of service agreement.

The removal of the doveworld.org site comes as President Barack Obama urged the Florida pastor not to burn the Koran on the 9-year anniversary of the 9/11 terror attacks. “This could increase the recruitment of individuals who would be willing to blow themselves up in American cities or European cities,” Obama said.
Terry Jones, the Gainesville pastor, says the burning of the Mulism holy book is a protest against radical Islam.
Rackspace, of San Antonio Texas, did not immediately return a telephone call from Wired.com after CNN reported the web hosting service pulled the plug on the Dove World Outreach Center’s site over a terms of service breach. Its terms of service agreement prohibits using Rackpace servers if such usage “incites violence, threatens violence, or contains harassing content or hate speech.”
Jones said Rackspace’s move Thursday was an “indirect attack on our freedom of speech.”
His congregation’s so-called International Burn a Koran Day event, he said, is a protest against radical Islam and is planned for 6 p.m. Eastern time Saturday.

Israel Matzav: Turks unfurl giant banner showing Peres bowing to Erdogan

the irony is the Turks kind of have a point. Peres is weak.

Israel is ignoring a massive banner that was unfurled in an Istanbul suburb on Sunday that shows President Shimon Peres bowing to Turkish Prime Minister Tayyip Erdogan. The banner's caption reads "Erdogan, a leader to whom the world bows down." The banner was removed before Erdogan made an appearance at the site to dedicate a new road network.

While at first glance this seemed to be Turkish retribution for the public hazing of Turkey’s ambassador to Israel in January, when Deputy Foreign Minister Danny Ayalon sat him on a lower chair and reprimanded him over an anti-Semitic television show broadcast in Turkey, the Turkish press reported that Erdogan’s office had the poster taken down before Erdogan appeared at the site to inaugurate a new road network.

It was not immediately clear who was responsible for the poster, with some diplomatic officials in Jerusalem saying it obviously came from the top, while others said it was quite possible that this was an independent act of protest that was not choreographed by the government.

One diplomatic official in Jerusalem termed the incident “scandalous,” saying that it demonstrated a great deal of disrespect both for Peres and for Israel.

You may recall that Erdogan stormed out of a forum with Peres at the Davos conference in January 2009. In an interview published on Monday with the Spanish newspaper El Pais, Erdogan took great pride in that incident.
