Pollard Betrayed

Labels: » » » » » » »
America can never be trusted as guardians as long as Pollard remains in prison.
(Giulio Meotti ) via (Nobel Appease Prize) I stand ashamed that my friends betrayed Pollard” Bret Stephens is one of the best columnists the Wall Street Journal has ever had. He is also one of the most brave Jewish journalists in the United States and in general. I also consider him a friend. But Stephens’ latest column, titled “Don’t free Jonathan Pollard”, left me with no words, simply speechless. I stand ashamed that even my friends forsake and slander Pollard in this way. Bret Stephens’ attack on the Israeli spy, who for a good part of that time has been held in conditions worse than those in which Gilad Schalit was held, is based on two blood libels: that Pollard was a “wacko” and that he was a "mercenary" who betrayed the United States for money. Stephens also implies that Pollard’s character, not his deeds, are on trial. It is very hard to understand why so many US Jews work on themselves to hate Jonathan Pollard. The French essayst RenĂ© Girard used to call it “the scapeagot”. Pollard reminds one of the Chinese dissidente who, during Mao’s Cultural Revolution, were publicly indicted with a sign calling them “traitor”. Seymour Hersh of The New Yorker has been putting forward the idea that Pollard was a“cocaine addict” and an “alcoholic”, deep in debt and that is why he succumbed to the Israeli offer of money for passing along secret documents (I happen to know real drug-addicted journalists who don't deserve to sit in the same jail as Jonathan Pollard). Bret Stephens embraced this version, while the truth is somewhere else entirely: Pollard sought out the Israelis and volunteered to give, not sell, secrets to Israel about nuclear, chemical and biological weapons under construction by Iraq and other Arab states for use against the Jewish people. Pollard worked for six months without receiving any payment from the Israelis, and never did ask for any money in exchange for his services. The lies against Pollard have been purposely disseminated to undermine his credibility, to demonize him, to defame him, as a witness to the undeclared Intelligence embargo instituted against Israel by Caspar Weinberger. Otherwise, Bret, how can you explain that Shimon Peres and the late Yitzhak Rabin approved Pollard’s work? Pollard’s ideological bona fides have been proven many times. Even the sentencing judge, Aubrey Robinson, acknowledged that Pollard was an ideologue and not a mercenary. And yet, in spite of this, virtually all of the most influential Jewish voices in America remain silent. How long is the list of respected writers, opinion makers and journalists who routinely have a great deal to say about Jewish issues, but nothing about Jonathan Pollard, or worse, ask Barack Obama not to grant him clemency? It would be easier to list those who fought and wrote for Pollard’s liberation. They are very few. Incredibly, the Jewish spokesmen claim to be “pro-Israel”, but their actions and words betray their claim. Pollard is the latest of a long list of Jews and their helpers betrayed by the so called “Jewish establishment”, including the ghetto fighters, Yair Stern, the lost Yemenite children, the Lebanese Christians, Gush Katif's pioneers. For years, only brave Arutz Sheva fought for the safety and liberation of Jonathan Pollard, while the Israeli media establishment demolished any chance of his liberation. Jonathan was put away for life not because he endangered the US, but because he irritated US Arab allies who felt that Israel had been too much strengthened; and second, because he made Israel impervious to American pressure. What Pollard endangered was the US administration's pro-Arab political agenda, not the intelligence community. The recently released CIA documents clearly show that Pollard focused on "Arab (and Pakistani) nuclear intelligence; Arab weaponry, including chemical weapons; Soviet aircraft; Soviet air defences; Soviet air-to-air missiles and air-to-surface missiles; and Arab order-of-battle, deployments, readiness”. Pollard passed Israel photos of the PLO headquarters in Tunis, secret information about Libya’s air defenses, Syrian chemical weapons, Egyptian ballistic missile capabilities, and the Pakistani atomic program. Is that a crime worthy of a life sentence, Bret? Not being allowed to attend your father's funeral? Pollard obtained the most exact U.S.-gathered information about Iraqi chemical warfare capabilities, including satellite pictures and maps showing the location of factories and storage facilities. The United States did not want to make such specific information available to Israel, fearing a preemptive strike. Why did Israel stockpile several million gas masks for the protection of the entire population in 1991 and 2003? Because of Pollard. And the United States, which didn’t bomb Auschwitz, is now letting Pollard die in jail. “It would have been an outright betrayal of my heritage, my personal integrity and an entire family lost in the ovens of the Holocaust if I had simply taken the safe route and closed my eyes to what had to be done”, once declared Pollard. Is this the “wacko Jew” whom many wealthy, "in" US Jews desperately want to keep behind bars? I stand ashamed that even my friends betrayed Pollard, who should be not only freed but also rehabilitated as a savior of the Israeli people. If they don’t consider his liberation a cause worth of fighting for, it means that all the rambling speeches of these Jewish commentators, with their expensive houses in Chevy Chase and on Park Avenue, are good for nothing but wrapping fish in the market .

Bennett Reminds Peres: Oslo Killed 1,600 Israelis

Labels: » » » » » » » » »
Naftali Bennett, who heads the Bayit Yehudi (merged Jewish Home-National Union) slate of Knesset candidates, reminded President Shimon Peres Monday that the Oslo Accords “brought us more than 1,600 murdered Israelis.”

(Medics remove bodies of 'Oslo War' victims)
Responding to the President’s controversial remarks on political issues in the middle of the election campaign, Bennett stated, “Enough, already. The President of the country is supposed to represent all of the country, not just a part of it.”
Peres said on Sunday that PA Chairman Mahmoud Abbas wants peace and is the only man with whom Israel can sign an agreement.
“Mr. President, it is clear that your intentions were good, but that does not make any difference. The time has come for some soul searching. Perhaps giving land to our enemies does not work?
“Perhaps you are mistaken? It is reasonable to have a Palestinian Authority country that will rain thousands of missiles on Tel Aviv?”
Bennett recalled that the Arab public in Judea, Samaria and Gaza went to the polls eight years ago and “elected a legislature with a decisive majority for Hamas – 57 percent of the legislature. Hamas – which calls for the destruction of Israel. With them, you want to make peace?”
Abbas’ Fatah party is in the midst of reconciliation with the rival Hamas terrorist organization, and Hamas has allowed Fatah to hold on Friday its first public rally in Gaza in six years, to mark the founding of the terrorist party founded by Yasser Arafat.
Bennett said Peres should stop saying that “there is no alternative” other than to accept to Abbas’ demands for a Palestinian Authority state.
"There is an alternative – sovereignty over Area 'C' with citizenship for Arabs,” Bennett said, referring to the areas of Judea and Samaria that include all of the Jewish population in Judea and Samaria of approximately 300,000 and only 4% of PA Arabs..
Bennett reminded Peres, “The bottom line is that public elected the government of Israel, and you have no right to advance policies that are surrounded by deep differences of opinion."

Rabin would have cancelled the Oslo accords and sent Arafat back to Tunisia

Labels: » » »
From Shmuel Hollander, former cabinet secretary under Yitzchak Rabin and Shimon Peres, in Ma'ariv (excerpted by MFA):
The author, who served as Cabinet Secretary to the late Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin and his successor Shimon Peres, declares: "I have no doubt that if he had not been murdered, Yitzhak Rabin would have cancelled the Oslo accords and sent Arafat and his cohorts back to Tunisia," and adds: "I sobered up at that time, with great pain, from the vision of peace in which I believed and which crumbled before my eyes in the blood of innocent Jews."
The paper avers that "Whoever talks about 'two states for two peoples' is, for all intents and purposes, talking about establishing a Hamas state in Judea and Samaria in addition to Gaza since it is clear that Hamas will take control of Judea and Samaria, whether by elections or violence (as in Gaza). This means an Iranian proxy a few kilometers from the heart of Israel."
The author asserts: "The gap between Israel's positions, including moderate elements among the public, and the Palestinians is immense and unbridgeable. Not in our time," and bids his readers closely read Khaled Mashaal's recent speech in Gaza.
The paper suggests that "Even if there was not even one settlement in Judea and Samaria, it would not be possible to reach a lasting peace," and adds: "Whoever accuses the Government of halting the diplomatic process and promises to change the situation is selling the public an illusion with no basis in reality. It would be better to tell the truth: We are fated to continue fighting for our land and our lives and to live on our swords for a long time, as in the past 100 years. It is much easier to become caught up in the euphoria of peace, as in the days of Oslo. The truth is hard and painful, but it is preferable to illusions."

Shimon Peres: Still a traitor after all these years

Labels:
Please forgive me for using an incendiary description that would set off an awful lot of Israelis if they knew how to read English, but there is simply no other word to adequately describe this: Shimon Peres is a traitor to the State of Israel.
Peres claims Abbas showed "courage" by seeking the status upgrade at the United Nations in the face of strong opposition from Israel and the United States, which hold that a Palestinian state can only emerge out of direct negotiations.
"He has shown courage not only by going to the United Nations, which I think -- from a point of view of time -- was the wrong time, but he stood up and said 'I am against terror, I am for peace'," the Israeli president said.
Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu might say otherwise, as the PM lamblasted Abbas for what he called a "venemous speech" that Abbas made in front of the UN when he was pleading his cause. "The world watched a defamatory and venomous speech that was full of mendacious propaganda against the IDF and the citizens of Israel. Someone who wants peace does not talk in such a manner," said Netanyahu.
What the.... ( I won't even fill in the first letter of the third word)?  Abu Bluff showed 'courage' by staying away from peace talks for four years - including ten months in which Netanyahu gave him the gift of a 'settlement freeze' - and then taking advantage of the automatic majority in the UN General Assembly? Abu Bluff showed he was 'against terror and for peace' by standing up in front of the world and slandering Israel from the podium of the United Nations?
I don't even have to ask whose side Peres is on. I know already. And it sure isn't our side.

Poll: Center Left 'mega party' would beat Netanyahu

Labels: » » » » » » » » » »
(Carl) If we as a country are foolish enough to do this, then we as a country deserve the lousy retread leadership we would get. A JPost poll has a 'center left mega party' including former Prime Minister Ehud K. Olmert, former Prime Minister Tzipi Livni, convicted sex offender Haim Ramon (who once told Ted Koppel that if his party has just one more vote than the other side, they can crush the other side), and the vapid Yair Lapid, would win 31 Knesset seats as compared with 22 for the Likud.
The poll found that such a party would win more seats than Likud, which would receive 22 mandates. Yisrael Beytenu would come in third, with 14 mandates, closely followed by Labor with 12, and Shas with 11 seats.
The poll of 500 people representing the general population was conducted on  October 9 and 10, and has a margin of error of 4.5 percent.
The poll results follow reports of progress on Wednesday by Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu’s political opponents, in their efforts to build a “Center-Left mega-party” that could pose a serious challenge to him in the upcoming general election.
Netanyahu officially informed President Shimon Peres of his intention to advance the elections, in a meeting at the President’s Residence on Wednesday. Peres expressed hope that the elections would be clean.
Netanyahu finalized the election date on Thursday. The date is acceptable to all the coalition parties and is just two days after the inauguration of the president of the United States.
...
Ramon’s first preference is for former prime minister Ehud Olmert to lead the mega-party, which would bring together former Kadima head Tzipi Livni, current Kadima MKs and other well-known figures on the Left. He would also want Yesh Atid leader Yair Lapid’s party to join.
Olmert told a stream of visitors to his office and home on Wednesday that he would decide whether to run within a week or two after receiving the results of in-depth surveys.
Livni, who met recently with Olmert, will not decide her political future until she returns from a lecture tour in the US in the middle of next week.
While popular former IDF chief of staff Gabi Ashkenazi is legally prevented from running for Knesset, Olmert, who is close to Ashkenazi, would present him as his candidate for defense minister if he chooses to make a comeback.
If Olmert heads a Center- Left bloc he would be able to form a coalition with religious parties and with Yisrael Beytenu, whose leader, Foreign Minister Avigdor Liberman, met with Olmert this week.
Kadima leader Shaul Mofaz has said in closed conversations that he would not stand in the way of an Olmert comeback, but he is not expected to cooperate with an effort to reinstate Livni as head of the Center-Left bloc after he defeated her by a landslide in Kadima’s leadership race.
Itzik expressed confidence that Mofaz would be willing to make political compromises for the good of the country.

In the US, Holocaust denial is recognised as a form of hate.  Because incitement to hatred is protected under the First Amendment, Congress cannot pass laws to prevent it. Facebook, on the other hand can and does prohibit the use of their service to promote hate. As a private company it has that right. By refusing to accept that Holocaust denial is a form of hate, Facebook lends legitimacy to the deniers and strikes against a human rights consensus.Facebook, which bans pictures of breast feeding mothers, does not need to make the hurdles so high when it comes to the hatred of Jews.

The differences were that Peres lied to Rabin about Arafat and got him killed
(YNET/Ronen Medzini) President Shimon Peres launched the events marking the 16th anniversary of the murder of Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin. Speaking in Jerusalem, Peres said: "We will never forget how you left us, through the boulevard of hate and incitement, within a landscape of incendiary posters calling for violence. You were not alarmed. You did not retreat. You did not stop marching forward."

Peres noted that "it is no secret that we had our differences, which caused both you and me a great deal of sorrow. Yet at the foundation we had a true common vision that bore far reaching results."

Pollard's Family Pleads to Allow Him to Attend Father's Funeral

btw the liberal bleeding heart president of Israel could not find it within him to ask Obama to grant a favor and allow Pollard mercy. Check your political label at the door Peres.

Morris Pollard, the [proud] father of Jonathan Pollard,  has died at age 95. HIs family has sent an urgent plea to President Obama, asking him to show mercy and allow Jonathan Pollard compassionate leave to attend his father's funeral. Jonathan Pollard was convicted for passing classified information to a foreign country and has been  incarcerated for 26 years
Pollard's father had been hospitalized for the last several months. During this period, activists on Pollard's behalf and various well-known Israelis, attempted to no avail to obtain permission for Jonathan to visit his father on a 24 hour leave.
The refusal prompted MK Aryeh Eldad to send a message of condolence to Jonathan, saying: "The people of Israel will not forget President Obama's cruelty in ignoring all the requests to free you. A president who lacks the basic human feeling that would allow a son's visit to his dying father should not wonder that the Jewish people will make every effort to prevent his re-election."
A petition signed by a 75  israeli MK's, asking Obama to allow Pollard to visit his dying father was to have been handed to Vice President Joe Biden shortly.  It came too late. via israelnationalnews.com
Telling the MKs more about his son, Morris Pollard said, "Jonathan is the most brilliant man I have ever known…He is a much stronger person than his parents."
After his son was arrested, Pollard said, he did not understand what he had done wrong. "He told me he didn't understand what was wrong, 'what's so bad about warning an ally of danger?' he asked. I told him I didn't know."via myrightword.blogspot.com

Pollard, who has published more than 300 scientific articles, oversees the longest running medical research program at Notre Dame. For more than 40 years, he has been using germ-freeLobund-Wistarrats to study disease mechanisms. Among his important findings: While 30 percent of all the rats develop prostate cancer spontaneously by age two, only three percent of those fed a diet rich in soy protein exhibited the disease at that age. And importantly, refractory prostate cancers were significantly prevented in the soy-consuming rats. Refractory tumors are fast-growing, invasive, metastatic, and resistant to a wide range of therapies. Since neither prevention nor therapy is feasible against the development of refractory cancers, they are a major impediment to the survival of cancer patients.

Peres: Israel should write its own peace plan

Israel's President Shimon Peres told Deputy Secretary General of the United Nations Asha-Rose Migiro that Israel has no objections to a UN resolution declaring a 'Palestinian state' so long as the resolution includes provisions allowing Israel to live in 'security.'
Israel does not object to the United Nations passing a resolution calling for the establishment of a Palestinian State, providing that such a resolution includes provisions for Israel's right to live in security, President Shimon Peres told Deputy Secretary General of the United Nations Asha-Rose Migiro on Sunday.
...
In emphasizing the need for the UN resolution to include a guarantee for Israel's right to live in security, Peres clarified that security means stopping terror, as well as halting the smuggling of arms. If the resolution deals only with the security of Israel, he said, the Palestinians won't be satisfied, and if it relates only to a Palestinian State, the Israelis won't be satisfied. Therefore, he said, the resolution must contain the two components.
Who appointed the guy who couldn't be elected dog catcher as our spokesman?
what side is Peres on? Bring back the last PM Moshe Katsav and throw him some young female staff workers as a sacrifice.

NORWAY IS THE MOST ANTI-SEMITIC COUNTRY IN THE WEST…….

Labels: » » » » » » » » » »
Hanne Nabintu Herland,
Norwegian Academic, Historian of Religions
and bestselling author. Her website is here...
Media_http2bpblogspot_sagmaThe President of Israel, Mr. Shimon Peres’ critical comments on Norways reluctancy to follow EU, UN and USA in denouncing Hamas as a terrorist movement, are timely remarks. If one adds Harvard professor Alan M. Dershowitz article in the Wall Street Journal 30. March, it all makes me ashamed to be Norwegian. Under the title “Jews are not welcome in Norway,” Mr. Dershowitz told of his encounters with anti-Semitic Norwegian academics who made it clear that he was unwanted as a guest lecturer at Norwegian universities. This is how Norwegian intellectuals treat one the West’s most famous defense lawyers and an internationally renowned Harvard University professor.
I met Dershowitz in March during Oslo Symposium 2011. His description of the obvious anti-semitism and the lack of willingness to be objective that characterizes Norwegian academia, is flat out shocking. During my opening lecture at the same Symposium Conference, I pointed out that the lack of nuances that characterizes the Norwegian understanding of the realities in Israel and the Middle East are not only shameless, but historically inacurate.
For culturally we have much more in common with the Jewish people than one would think. Western civilizational values has its cradle in the Greek and Roman contributions, but also, and especially when it comes to values, in the Hebrew-Christian contribution. The European humanistic view of the dignity of human beings regardless of rank, class or ethnicity carries deep impact from Judaism. These values are at the core of what it means to belong to Western Civilization today.
But today, Norwegians  reach far beyond the question of Palestine, and instead of supporting the only real democracy in the Middle East, namely Israel, we blackmail the Israelis in a manner as though we were still in 1939 at the time the socialist Hitler “zieg heil ” was shouted in Norway. For the Nazis were Left Wing, and came out of Germany’s Socialist Labour Party, they were not right-wing. The individuals in the Norwegian politically powerful positions that have pushed for these solely negative attitudes towards Israel for so many years, are responsible for creating a politically-correct hatred towards Jews that has made Norway the most anti-Semitic country in the West.
Norways largest newspaper VG recently showed a survey on what the Norwegian people think of the largest TV station, NRKs chronically negative covering of Israel. The question was whether the people feel that the coverage is done in an objective manner or not. 60% believed that the recent complaint by the Israeli embassy in Oslo is right in that the coverage is constantly negative towards Israel and highly biased.
When the democratic right to free thinking is restricted, and only one part of the story is told, democracy alters shape and turns into a totalitarian system of speech control. This is the situation in Norway. Today many Jews hardly dare walk on the street in Oslo without fear of being spat on, – and not from Muslims but of ethnic Norwegian misguided people who think they do the truth a service by bullying fellow human beings.

Deep injustice lie in the fact that leading opinion makers in the Norwegian system have decided not to contribute to increased knowledge of international relations, but only reflect the politically-correct Left wing dictate. During Soviet times this was called propaganda.
Foreign Minister Jonas Gahr-Store ongoing articles in international newspapers in defense of Hamas, reflects this naiveté which eventually becomes so great that one should be promoting suspicion of deliberate malice. His International Herald Tribune article February 15th is a disgrace. There is good reason to understand why parts of the Labour Party would rather have him as Minister of Health.
Then one could at least have stopped the harm this man is doing when it comes to degrading Norway’s international reputation. For Mr. Store is internationally ridiculing his own country by acting as a self-styled Hamas activist. He was recently caught lying in a live TV2 show, denying his continuous political talks with Hamas leader Khaled Meshaal. He only changed his story when the reporter told him Mr. Meshaal had spoken about his conversations with Mr. Store.
Because of the lack of political will to tell both sides of the story, Norwegians are denied objective information that could have contributed to public knowledge of the situation. The same happened in Iran in 1979 when the Marxists and other supporters of the naive dreams of the effects of armed revolutions “of the people”, hailed Khomeini. The Shah of Persia was overthrown and many Marxists shed tears of joy because the Iranian people now had their revolution. Today many also cry, but for quite other reasons.
The Norwegian medias total and uncritical celebration of the angry young men on Tahrir Square during the recent revolution in Egypt, is a similar example. It was remarkably quickly forgotten that President Mubarak at the last election had more than 80% of the population behind him. During his years in power, he enabled Egypt to become Africa’s fastest growing economy and one of the Middle East’s most expansive, secular and stable country, rated as a middle income country by the UN, with a national income per. capita increased by 40% from 2004 up till today. In recent years, Mubarak succeeded in bringing one million out of poverty and into a middle class, an accomplishment that further pushed economic growth.
Many questions can be asked when it comes to the situation in the Middle East, including Egypt. It is well known that the country has struggled with corruption, poverty and lack of religious freedom. Nevertheless, the conservative philosopher Alexis de Tocqueville observed that when the so-called dictators over time have made conditions better for their people, that is when revolutions come that often makes things worse again.
The lack of will to promote and highlight various aspects of what is really happening in Israel as well as in numerous other international issues, is thus one of the reasons why many Norwegians now stand together and push for a new course in Norwegian politics. We want an end to the propaganda and to the misleading image which is continually portrayed of Israel.

Besides being right on, she's also HOT!

NOTE: The astute Norwegian blogger at Norway Israel and the Jews has more on Hanne Herland, who participated in the March symposium in Oslo regarding Norway’s problem with anti-Semitism. via tundratabloids.com and image via mobil.ba.no

President Peres Comments on Fatah-Hamas Agreement

Labels: » » » »

When there is no TRUTH... there is only a reflection of choosing from those who wish to subvert the system.

huh?
...................Regarding the agreement he said: "Israel would like to see the Palestinian people become united for peace. This is not an agreement this is a split. Hamas is a recognized terrorist organization. According to this agreement Hamas doesn't have to change their charter that calls for the destruction of Israel, they can continue to shoot at us as they did when firing on a yellow school bus.  Hamas is a branch of Iran -  Iran, Hamas and Hezbollah want a union for war, Mr. Abbas wants a union for peace."

The Hamas-Fatah reconciliation deal

President Peres, in a personal plea to Mahmoud Abbas and the Fatah leadership said: "I call upon my friends in the leadership of Fatah: unite for peace, don't make compromises, don't permit a division that legitimizes destruction and hatred.  We were for peace, we are for peace and we are committed to a two-state solution."

The President added: "The United Nations cannot accept or recognize a terrorist organization as a state in September.  It is not too late.  Let's take the road of peace. Let's not create an impossible situation - neither for the Palestinians, nor for us."

Abbas is for peace? wake up and smell the coffee! Abbas and Fatah were just another terrorist group. They never were for peace. Not ever. Peres is so quick to judge the moment. that is how you know not to trust Peres.

who says the Jews don't have a Peace plan? here... let me translate what he is really saying: "The Jews need to find another Unilateral way to make themselves vulnerable to religions and people who want to kill Jews". Giving up security in Gaza just wasn't enough.

I have come up with a PEACE plan... We send Peres to Gaza to live there for the rest of his life.

Esther Pollard ‘Hurt’ by Obama’s Silence on Her Husband

Labels: » » » »
jonathan-pollard
Israeli agent Jonathan Pollard’s wife Esther expressed a deep sense of hurt and bewilderment on Wednesday at the lack of response by President Barack Obama to a personal request from President Shimon Peres to release her husband ahead of Pesach.
Esther Pollard revealed for the first time that Peres had hand-delivered to Obama a personal letter from her husband, the first personal letter Jonathan Pollard had ever written a to a US president. She said she was disappointed by Obama’s lack of a response when Peres brought up her husband’s fate.
“Obama’s utter indifference to Peres’s request was very puzzling, but it has to be seen in context of the president’s indifference to all of the requests he has received to release Jonathan Pollard after 26 years in prison, not only from Peres and Netanyahu but also from ranking senior American officials,” she said. “The president’s resounding silence in the face of all of these requests leaves no room for any doubt. Clearly it is nothing personal against Jonathan, but it is, without a doubt, a devastating slap in the face to Israel and Jews worldwide.”
Esther Pollard noted that Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu made a formal request for Jonathan’s release from the podium of the Knesset in January after her husband had served more than 25 years in prison, but Obama did not respond then either.
“To be met with total silence and indifference by Israel’s supposed best ally is tantamount to having the President of the US personally spit in [Netanyahu's] face, publicly and unapologetically,” she said. “Even if the prime minister wants to try to ignore the insult, Israel’s neighbors know exactly what it means in terms of the US-Israel special relationship.”
When asked how she felt to see pictures of Obama’s Passover Seder that were publicized in the media, she said she stared at the photos and questioned why her husband’s fate was apparently not considered at Obama’s Seder.
“All I could think of was the irony that upstairs in the White House they were celebrating the Jewish national holiday of freedom, totally oblivious to the cries of a Jewish captive, painfully chained to the dungeon walls beneath their feet,” she said. “With a mere stroke of the president’s pen, the captive could be free.”
Asked why this Seder was different than others, Pollard noted that unlike past years, all the factors were in place not only to facilitate Jonathan’s release, but even to compel it, as a matter of justice, including requests to Obama from Israel’s president and prime minister and many top American officials.
She said Peres’s request was particularly important, because of the sense recently expressed by American officials that Obama might not want to take a step that could benefit Netanyahu politically due to the tension between the two.
“Shimon Peres is the voice of consensus for the people of Israel,” she said. “He is perceived worldwide as a man of peace and as a super diplomat. A positive response to Peres’ request would entail no insult to Netanyahu, and would solve Obama’s dilemma about perceived benefit to the prime minister.”
Contrary to the views of American officials in past administrations who had used the Pollard issue as a bargaining chip against Israel in the peace process, Esther Pollard said Obama needed to release Pollard to show the Arab world that he is close to Israel.
“It is the personal relationship between Obama and Netanyahu that is perceived both by Israel and its neighbors as the key factor to success and security in the region,” she said. “By blatantly ignoring official Israeli requests for Pollard’s release, Obama has turned the issue into a deeply personal and obstructive obstacle between himself and the prime minister of Israel and by extension between the two countries. As long as Jonathan remains in a dungeon in America, an American-brokered peace process can’t move forward.”
Esther Pollard said she celebrated Seder night by crying and praying a lot and trying to make sense of her husband’s situation. She said she spoke to Jonathan and that he too was devastated that yet another year had gone by and he is still in prison. But she said that instead of lamenting, he comforted her and encouraged her not to give up the effort for his release.
Asked what she hoped would happen next, she answered: “A miracle. Jonathan home. Now.”

Playing even handed when the event was obviously a one sided issue is not a friend and Obama is merely having his hand forced by the American people to do the right thing. I will never forgive Obama and especially Clinton for their betrayal.
President Shimon Peres said Tuesday Israel was willing to change things in the Golan Heights, but will not agree to Iranian presence there. In interview with CNN, president adds that Israelis who dislike Obama are 'wrong'. Meanwhile US slams Gilo construction bid
The president spoke after the US State Department expressed "deep concern" over the approved plans for construction of 942 new homes in the neighborhood of Gilo, which lies beyond the 1967 borders. The condemnation was issued just hours after Peres's meeting with US President Barack Obama.

In an interview with CNN during his visit to Washington, Peres said Israel has always desired peace with Damascus and that all former prime ministers have been willing to give up the former Syrian territory in exchange for a deal.

However, the Syrian government must choose between peace with Israel or continuing to 'service Hezbollah and Iran", the president said. He added that he is following events in the country, where protests against President Bashar Assad's regime have proliferated recently.

Peres also commended Obama, with whom he met at the White House Tuesday evening, for his support of Israel, saying simply that Israelis who dislike Obama "are wrong".

He said Obama, whose intentions were often misunderstood by Israelis, had expressed “steadfast opposition to any attempt to delegitimize Israel in any international forum”. He cited the US veto of a UN condemnation of settlements as well as the country's support for Israel against the “blood libel” of the Goldstone report.

Meanwhile the State Department condemned construction in Gilo. "We're deeply concerned about the announcement of the approval for these units," State Department Spokesman Mark Toner said.

"We believe that through good-faith direct negotiations the parties should mutually agree on an outcome that realizes the aspirations of both parties. Ultimately, a lack of resolution to this conflict, harms Israel, harms the Palestinians and harms the interests of the United States and the international community."

On Monday Jerusalem's local planning and construction committee approved the homes, which will cover some 88,000 square meters along with commercial zones, public structures, and sport and luxury areas.

The plans also include a clause allowing for expansion of up to 300 additional housing units. The plans are now up for approval by the district committee.

Gilo is by consensus considered Israeli territory though it lies beyond the Green Line, but construction there has previously sparked international criticism. The most recent plans were approved just a day before Peres was scheduled to meet Obama.

After their meeting, the US president said he would like to promote a real peace process between Israel and the Palestinians. "With the winds of change blowing through the Arab world, it's more urgent than ever than we try to seize the opportunity to create a peaceful solution between the Palestinians and the Israelis," he said.

Romancing Livni

“Israel has a prime minister whose policies
have no connection to what
he promised during the election,”
Livni said. “It’s all due to pressure.
Because he lacks the courage
to stand up to his ministers
and insist on differentiating between
the settlement blocs and isolated settlements,
he has shifted the international debate
to [territories] that we once took for granted.”

...“A responsible leader helps
our friends around the world
and does not embarrass them.
The president of the United States

with a shameful request to
receive something to persuade

Regarding Netanyahu’s decision
not to cave in to pressure from
US President Barack Obama
to extend the 10-month
West Bank moratorium on housing

The Likud responded that
“Livni has already proven that she is ready
for huge concessions at the
expense of Israel’s interests,
especially with UN Resolution 1701
that she initiated to end the Second Lebanon War,
which allowed the rearming of Hizbullah
with tens of thousands of Iranian missiles.
Netanyahu will make sure
such strategic mistakes are not repeated.”

The Prime Minister’s Office denied a report on Wednesday that Prime Minister
Binyamin Netanyahu had asked President Shimon Peres to pressure Kadima leader
Tzipi Livni to join the coalition.

A report in Wednesday’s Yediot Aharonot said Netanyahu had met secretly with Peres for more than three hours over dinner on Monday night. It said they had analyzed the political situation and the challenges of the current US-Israel relationship and that Netanyahu had asked the president for help with Livni.

Rabin and Peres still WRONG!

Labels: » »

At a ceremony Tuesday night in memory of slain Prime Minister Yitzchak Rabin, President Shimon Peres said that Rabin's murder was an “unforgivable and unerasable crime. We cannot allow the passage of time or our weariness to force us from our course. On this memorial day we must fight against forgetfulness, which is the enemy of man and democracy,” Peres said.
Speaking at the memorial, Yitzchak Rabin's son Yuval demanded that the right stop using expressions such as “the crimes of Oslo” and “the Oslo tragedy” to describe the aftermath of Rabin's Oslo Accords, in which hundreds of Jews were killed and injured in the second intifada. Yuval Rabin said that his greatest wish was to ensure that everyone realize that his father had acted for what he believed was the good of the country and the Israeli nation.
wrong Rabin. it does not matter if your father thought he was doing the right thing. It only matters that those who opposed your father knew he was causing mass murder with his ignorance. Every Republic is built on the blood of sacrifice. Rabin might of been a part of building Israel, but his later action caused mass death.
I will remind Rabin that I would of had his father's blood on my hands today if I needed to save lives. To not of killed Rabin would of been the real crime.
...and to those Americans who doubt me... ask yourself: What founder of the U.S.Republic made the greatest economic sacrifice for the Revolution? None other then Benedict Arnold who George Washington later attempted to assassinate.
Let this be a warning to future Israeli leaders

Dhimmi of the day Peres thanks Castro for words about Jews

Labels: » »

President Shimon Peres sent a missive to Cuba's Fidel Castro to thank him for his words about Jews. "Your unexpected words comprise a kind of surprising bridge between a difficult reality and a new horizon," Peres wrote. "This is proof that those distant from one another can be close."

In an interview with US magazine Atlantic, the former Cuban leader said Israel undoubtedly had a right to exist, and that Jews were persecuted more than anyone.
<sarcasm> of course this has nothing to do with the fact that Castro spent a lifetime attacking Jews and Queers. The change of Fidel's heart has nothing to do with his concerns about his legacy in the minds of most people </sarcasm>
