(IDF) Yesterday, an additional Iron Dome anti-missile battery was deployed in the southern Israeli city of Ashkelon. An initial battery was deployed last week in the southern city of Be'er Sheva.
Dome active defense system's recent deployment comes as a response to the recent barrage of Grad missiles, Qassam rockets, and mortar shells fired from the Gaza Strip which hit Israel, injuring civilians and terrorizing thousands.The Iron Dome system will intercept such rockets before they hit inside Israeli territory. Currently, the Israeli Air Force is testing the system's effectiveness after being deployed in the field as a final stage before being put to operational use. The Iron Dome will provide part of the solution to rocket fire targeting southern communities, and it will be mobile, allowing the system to rotate among cities.
